In '04 Blair classified Marijuana as Class C, this is reversing that.
Cannabis in the UK from next year onwards will be reclassified as a Class B instead of Class C. Penalties for dealing in schools, universities and hospitals will increase. The cited reason is that "Skunk is becoming the dominant strain on the market and it's three times more potent." Even parliaments medical experts opinion weren't given adequate authority as they said it should remain a Class C.
Class B drugs
These include amphetamines such as speed and barbiturates.
People found guilty of possessing a Class B drug could go to jail for up to five years and be fined.
Those caught and found guilty of trafficking a Class B drug can be sent to prison for up to 14 years.

The UK is losing the war on weed. Hopefully the people over there will protest this. More evidence that Britain is becoming a bit of a nanny state.
