What up guys I'm OMMP so I typically go to hemp fest since it isn't too Damn far.

Considering going to cannabis cup was wondering what it's like and what goes on? Also would I be able to pick up seeds from breeders there? One of the main motivators to go for me is pick up beans in person.

rekoj,

HT Cannabis Cup is probably better than Hempfest. Last fall they had it in Freemont which is a super cool area but pretty much nowhere to park. This had me pissed of a bit and then they demanded $50 for entry which made me start thinking I am being fleeced by another set of 'gangaprenuers'. After I settled down a bit, it was a fun show to walk. They had very good speakers in the main hall and of interest to me were many industry vendors (nice change from 500 vendors at Hempfest all selling the same cheap glass and tee shirts).
Probably the coolest was the vendor area where a bunch of seed vendors, growers, edible companies were all gathered. They all were giving away free samples. Getting to see finished flower from seed vendors was great! If you wanted to buy weed, you could get some great stuff too. One guy was giving away free weed as long as you had WA mmj card.
So the chance to engage with people in the business was nice. They did require over 21 id for entrance into the vending area. As I said, it seemed most vendors were also asking for WA mmj card to do business, but not sure as I unfortunately had no money in my pocket to buy stuff at the time.
So a good time, also more music shows and stuff, but every event cost a good bit of money so the HT money grab is a bit blatant (might be a blessing in disguise as crowd seems a bit more in check than at Hempfest). They also have the awards, but not of much interest to me as all the entries pretty much look the same and winning I'm sure goes to the highest bidders.

Hempfest is cool too! No doubt! Totally different though. Weather was great for this last year - good time for all!

Damn really disappointed to hear I'll need a card..I'll probably not attend then. I only want to go to get seeds but if I need a mmj card in WA it's a deal breaker. I've got one in Oregon unfortunately. Thanks for the info! ! I'll probably just attend hempfest like normal an pick up some cheap glass..

How's my post BS? I said straight up I wasn't sure about whether all people were checking and fyi, the only way to sell cannabis products legally in WA right now is patient to patient with valid id and authorization. Then you say as well some people were checking for oil and edibles? Try reading the post before you call out BS and then post the same BS - makes you look stupid.

"Just dont act sketchy and no ones going to question your validity" LOL, yeah, make sure you rock your tie dyes and birks so you don't have to worry about the law!

Sorry tiger i didnt mean to word it like that to make it sound like i was being rude to you, sorry man for real.

I just mean no one asked me for my medical papers to buy seeds and i did purchase quite afew. I dont wear tie die or sandals man. I run a couple large gardens and make/sell extracts in WA state... what i mean was if people can tell you know what your talking about they tend to not question you... alot of breeders dont want to give away the sample seeds to people who arent going to use them also. Alot of cup people see the seed packs as souviners, and usually the seeds given out at those events are cool or new strains they want people to grow... idk... Again i wasnt tryiin to be rude, sorry if i was. And seeds arent considered a cannabis product in WA state. So before you call people out, do some research buddddy. (They have been considered waste since 1980 or so)

I went to the cannabis cup last year. We showed our Showed tickets to security/cops at main gate. Once inside you showed your med card to get in the smoking/main vendor areas. Otherwise no one asked to see a thing. I didn't pick up any seeds while there however. But I can say that once you showed your medical license to the security folks at the gates inside the main pavilion you were home free in 2013. We went back and forth dabbing and smoking all day long and never had a vendor ask for any identification.

Hope that helps man. Not sure where you're located but the Harvest Cup up north by Bellingham is pretty sweet as well. Lots of more local as opposed to large name glass vendors, plenty of dabs to be tried, lots of extract vendors etc.

HT Cannabis Cup was a blast though. Pricey but if you got the loot it was a great experience. Good vibes all around with people from every walk of life getting high and getting along.

Went to the first HTCC 2-3 years ago got the t-shirt to prove it lol... won't go back to another... I vend for BOG seeds and know 3 or 4 of the other breeders that are local so no need to go for beans, have all the smoke, oil and edibles i could wish for and if you're set on smoke, edibles and seeds i wouldn't go... if you've not been go and enjoy it's pretty cool but for the price not worth it to go twice, I would go for $20 probably but pricing is outrageous.

how much do you think looking to spend to pick up 5 packs of beans...?
Well after you pay $55 to get in you probably looking at $40+ for 5 beans... yes you'll get a schwagg bag and you can stay around for panelists but you can get the beans local and save the cost of going to the cup...

So check this out, last year it was $1k to be a vendor (I think it got you 2 entries into the cup could be wrong) it costs $45-55 a day to get in, you probably are going to smoke for free while you're there, but where does that money go, not back to our community, certainly not back to the medical community, so why does it cost so much to put on a cup? We could all throw a bbq in a backyard and bring out own goods and judge ourselves for free.

I'm sorry for my rant, but after supporting Norml and HT for many years I've really been put off by both entities as well as Vivian Mcpeak (creator of Hempfest)... while these 3 sources have for many decades all been about legalizing weed they've done NO GOOD since it's been legal... except make money, their all good at that.

I'll agree that the tickets to get in are a bit steep. I think if I go next year I would go on the day they have the concert, might seem more worth the entry fee. Aside from that I had a pretty good first time at the cup. Got several packs of seeds no problem, smoked a bunch (a couple vendors didn't ask for a med bracelet, btw), sat in on the growers panel, and just had a good time with good folks. I guess I just enjoyed gettin seed stock without goin through shit online and in mail.
