The effect of the passive inhalation of marijuana as a result of breathing in the smoke of others is not quantified, but should be avoided.
Any form of smoking can disrupt the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus, which can result in restrictions in the growth of the fetus (including overall length, foot length, head size and body weight), and in rare cases premature birth, miscarriage and stillbirth.

When a breastfeeding mother uses marijuana, THC passes into the breast-milk and thus into the baby, where it can be stored in the baby’s fatty tissue for several weeks.
Using marijuana while breastfeeding may cause the baby to be unsettled and disrupt feeding cycles.
As a result, marijuana use should be avoided when breastfeeding.

That question bounced around the room (and in my head) for a moment. And the answer is an equivocal "Yes" — but the reason why I hesitate is the word "smoke."

The answer to that question might surprise you, but this is too important of an issue to be wrong — no matter what misconceptions one might have. Current research is confirming a new theory: cannabinoids play a fundamental role in a healthy and successful pregnancy

You really think consuming cannabinoids by a pregnant woman is a good idea? Frankly I don't think we know enough yet. That is what angers me.
Now that bit about the ECS system is like saying pregnant women should consume opiates because we have an enkephalin system. It does not pass a simple test of logic.
For example:
All airplanes are made of steel and aluminum. (true)
Steel and aluminum can not fly. (true again)
Therefore since airplanes are made of steel and aluminum they can not fly. (False but a perfect logic sequence)
In logic this is what is known as a syllogism and one of the first and simplest forms. For a simple syllogism to stand all statements must in fact be true. The link between the human ecs and externally derived cannabinoids is still somewhat speculative based on the dearth of research so until we know more it fails there.
This is PRECISELY why Cannabis MUST be rescheduled. We do not have enough research to predict teratogenicity. So frankly I am VERY pro cannabis but I would say best to avoid during pregnancy based solely on the lack of current medical understanding.
***Disclaimer: If you are a pregnant and using or have history of success using during pregnancy I'm not arguing with you. What I'm trying to say is the damn government needs to get it's butt in gear and fix this we need REAL science done so we have substantiated facts and not merely anecdotes (and rightly or wrongly even if everyone agreed it doesn't matter until appropriate scientific tests are designed and repeated the govt. has us by the short hairs).***

i know that when the baby comes out its blood will be tested... and after. so wether its bad for you or not really doesnt matter.. you could try and stop smoking a month before your due, even 2 but what if it comes early.i know a couple peole that have had their kids taken away just leave it

to condone the use of weed during the pregnancy of his child.
Personally, I cant bring myself to condone using drugs
during pregnancy at all unless prescribed by a doctor (not a forum).

Oh no you are quite correct. Almost all neonates are tested for drugs and yes CPS/DPH will intervene if you are in the US.

Why in heaven's name would you take ANY risk when a baby will have to live with the ramifications of your decision for it's entire span of existence on this planet. Start demanding re-scheduling if for nothing else than teratogenicity testing!

I haven't consumed any marijuana during my pregnancy and plan to stay away from it until my child is weaned off the breast. So another 6-7 months.
A year and a half to be clear of conscience for the rest of my childs life. I can take it.

I agree his stopping using would be kind. However we really can't make another adult do anything. Or at least I've never found a way and heaven knows I gave it the ole college try LOL!
