Canadian LED Component Suppliers

Hello, I hope no one minds but I wanted to start a thread where we can give some tips on where the best deals are for buying diy led supplies for Canadians. If anyone's has any tips please share

Most apparent issue: can't find cheap drivers - meanwells seem expensive here

Digikey
very fast shipping from USA. Flat rate 8$ on order under 200$- over $200 free

LEDs: Large selection, I think the bridgelux eb series are a good deal here
Drivers: I could not find any good deals on led drivers here.
Optics and mounting hardware: I did not check for those

Mouser
Warehouse ships from Texas. Because of this I didnt want to order too much from them. Also very fast shipping.

Drivers
: this is the chgeapest I found in Canada but I'm convinced there has to be a better deal somewhere else. I paid around 75usd for a hlg-120h1c700a including shipping and duty.
LEDs: did not check
Optics and mounts: did not check

Future electronics
LEDs, connectors, possibly more: have not checked these guys yet

eBay/amazon

Wago connectors

Home Depot
Angle aluminum: not too expensive, there are two sections one in the back by the wood for 8' lengths and one in the hardware isle for 3, 4 and 6 foot lengths including small sheets of aluminum.
Electrical connectors: make sure if you buy these you are using the correct wire. Stranded wife doesn't work too well on push connectors. Wagos are probably better but 18awg solid core is also available here
Wire: lots of variety - I bought solid core with push connectors. Your drivers have tinned ended stranded wire so I had to strip some shielding off those and add more running to fit into the connector.
Hooks bolts and screws: can't beat them for this stuff. Lots of super cheap self tapping screws, bolts, hooks etc..

Yep it looks like future solved my issue of cheaper drivers.

They have vero as well like you said @OLD MOTHER SATIVA

Pretty nice, thank you.

Digikey is 8$ shipping to Canada on orders under 100 or 200 bucks - can't remember.

Future electronics is 7.50$ flat rate on orders under 100lbs..

Today is a good day! Usually stuff is expensive and hard to find in the great white north.

There's a big selection of meanwell drivers there
It looks like upfront purchase cost meanwell are not the cheapest on future electronics.

I made a big ass spreadsheet and imputed all the different LED drivers that fit what i was looking for (im a nerd) and it appears that the two Philips drivers I posted earlier seem to be cheaper than anything else I've seen (for 700ma). It's outdoor and dimmable too.

i'm sold!

the furture electronics vero's,wago's and these will make our cannuck$ life better......

the nichia j130B's i bought are pretty good too..

vero's with their higher wattage are simpler to assemble..less heatsinks/holders wires

i do notice now you need to order a LOT of chips of the nichia 130 now..too many

veros are 50..ok thats doable if i ever get cobs again..7.50 shipping

There are some items like veros that are in stock and can be bought individually, just search for in stock stuff.

There are no v29s though. I think there are v18s. If you want an item that isn't in stock yea,you have to buy a ton of them

I made some updates to www.ledbuilder.org by adding a bunch of diy suppliers to the quick links on the right (bottom if you're on a mobile).

I marked the two I know of that are Canada friendly as far as cheap shipping and decent priced products.

If you know of any suppliers or companies that are cheap in Canada for supplies please post.

I just checked out those illumitex chips but there are no specs listed on the two that I checked. The links to the spec sheets return 404. Do you have the specs handy?

@OLD MOTHER SATIVA

I ran some numbers on the highest lm/w COBs available from Future that they had in stock (and that you can buy a few at a time).

They turned out to be Vero 13 Gen 7 and I picked 3500k and 5000k.

Bon Apetit

Edit - I should say they ended up being cheaper than the Bridgelux EB strips, also the lumens were watt weren't anything to scoff at (153 @ 3500k and 162 @ 5000k)

The downside here is heatsinking may cost a bit more.

Not taking into consideration the heat sinks, the lumens per watt of the Vero 13 g7 is higher than the EB series strips and also has a less upfront purchase cost.
