can you use dual spec hps to grow from seed?

My plants dont seem to be growing. My 600w hps is dual spectrum shouuld i be using this to start the plants off? thanks

question would be why do you want to use 600 watts of anything on a seedling..... a waste of electricity and bulb lifespan

I use CFL for 3 to 4 weeks, then HPS.

Sun King is correct use a smaller light until the plant is the size of your fist, 2-3 cfl's go well

600w of anything is probably not ideal to start plants with if only due to possible heat issues w/ seedlings (but if your cooling and distance is fine it's not necessarily bad - just sort of an overkill sort of thing). Likewise, it will work to use an HPS for an entire grow, even if not ideal (dual-spectrum or enhanced blue HPS are pretty decent actually).

You would need to throw out some more information if you are having issues with your plant not growing (and pics help a lot). Like: What are your temperatures, exact age/size of plants, feeding schedule (if any), watering schedule, etc...

growing autos, each with a different age so may as well put seeds in with bigger ones.

spraying with water quite often because heat dries the soil. Only just started using canna coco A&B and some molasses and just bought some mag/cal. also got some de-ionised water. using canna coco pro soil in 15l air pots. light is about 1m away from plants.

If it's a seedling you only need a small amount of light(Lumens) CFL are great for seedlings or Clones...600w for babies is overkill...

a) What age are Ladies and what Strain
b) What Medium are you using
c) What kind of Grow environment you got(Tent/Closet/Room??)
d) what Temps and Humidity Levels have you got
e) How Close have you had that 600w??

IF you can post a Pic or provide more details...think peeps might be able to give you a bit more Help?

they are one super critical auto, one blue cheese auto, blue cheese but 30 days from seed and the blue cheese about 23 days. temprature is about 30-25, fluctuates. its in a tent for clothes atm.

Not being funny mate, but think you might wanna have a rethink. reorganize and read up a little...plan your Grow...or you will just get pissed off if/when you fail...

Like said not being funny...just seems a bit of a Slap-dash approach...

Thanks for putting Pics up..So that seedling in the Pic that's a 30 day Auto?? I know the Air-Pots are pretty BIG, but how tall in cm are the Ladies?

Hiya HELPMEGROWWEED, I could be wrong but I think these are not going to get any better....Though like I said I could be wrong, maybe you will be lucky and they will pull through..

You might wanna germ some other beans and use small pots(Potting/Seedling compost or Rockwool) for the 1st week of their life with a couple of IDK 23-30w CFL...this way you can have them quite close and not worry about Overkill or Heat from the Hps. this way the seedling fills the little pot/rockwool with roots...then Pot-on into the BIG Air-Pots after maybe 7-10 days(Depending on Growth & roots)
Also (I) wouldn't be giving little seedlings much if any Nutes in 1st wk...other than maybe a little Root Juice or something along those lines.

A small plant in a huge pot will spend most of its energy creating Roots...but very little above ground growth..

Hate to ask but how much Growing you done before and did you go with Auto's because of ease...no 12/12 etc

Might be better to go back to the drawing board....

When you say spraying with water are you just spraying them and nothing else? Your light is fine even though it may be overkill, as is the distance away. To me they look like they could do with a good drink and feeding! Are you also checking the ph levels?

Typically auto's are fast starters so by 30 days from seed they should be getting ready to show pre-flowers, I'm not sure what's going wrong in your situation but you should be much farther ahead by now.

Attached pic is my low-grade Mexican bag-seeds at 27 days from seed, this was also when I moved from all CFL's to a mixture with the 600 watt HPS running at 50%
