Can you identify this insect?

a few of em hang out around the grow closet. Not sure if they are harmful or what they are. I think they are the ones that laid the eggs inside the base of my potted plants. Eggs are white-yellow and are covered in a yellow fuzz and form patches.
 
i am not sure what that is nor do i know if it is beneficial to have them in your garden.
two insects that i know are beneficial are ladybug and wee little clear/whitish spiders.
 
idk Fungus Gnat? Maybe?
Probably not good if they are eating your plant. Is there leaf damage?
 
What you have is a green lacewing. Do not kill these insects they are very beneficial! Here is what I have in my field guide: "Females lay white eggs suspended at the end of slender stalks. The larve are sometimes called aphid lions because they prey on aphids and other soft-bodied insects. Pupation occurs in egg-shaped, silken cocoons that are attached to plants." Cool so they will eat other bugs that will eat you plant. Very cool. would they eat thrips?
 
thanks man, i just happen to read this in an issue of sunlight supply. good to hear. ill stop killin em.

Yep! They are indeed good to have around. They are voracious predators!:mrgreen:
