Can you identify the sex of a plant and then keep it from flowering?

Why are males harder to spot than females? From the vids I've seen on youtube, it looks pretty obvious what's male and what's female.
It might be that at the earliest signs of males showing they can appear as female. You see a tiny little growth and it looks like a cone and you think "pistils on the way" and then a stem pokes out and that 'cone' is really the formation of that ball :D

Time will resolve all sexes. If they say the plants won't show in veg there's good chance they've not put to practice vegging plants for enough of a duration for plants to exhibit sex to be observed. They toss into flower "look now it's showing.." yes 12/12 might induce flower sooner, but they will show it in veg regardless.
