Don't get that kit bro. The bat wing is gonna fuck your temps off bad. Get one with air cooled hood preferably or cool tube at least. Them suckers put out heat..

As an alternative look into LED. be prepared to spend a few hundred for something decent. You'll always need ventilation to remove the excess O2 and pull in fresh CO2. but you'll have no heat issues and the initial cost for light will be nothing to money saved on electric.

Been growing and flowering with 8 bulb HOT5 for 3 years
The drawback is bulb life. Not good for more than 2 veg and 3 flowerings= ~ $200 annual expense to retube
Consequently, I have stayed abreast of LED tech
LEDs worthy of consideration- Apache Tech, and A51. They cost more, but are quality products that will last for years to come

I wanna scrog 2 plants. Someone tell me what size light and what size tent to use. I am ordering all my items friday. I wanna scrog just 2 plants. So will a 24x24x60 tent work? Do i need a 48x24x60 tent?

I rock the t5 in some body house . it will average 1.5 ounces per plant and 6 plants under that 8 bulb 4 footer . for a medical grow . cancer patient . great to start to finish . and you can change the spectrum or mix the spectrums. t5 rock for a small medical grow! reason people bash t5 because they don't know how to make there plants grow good yields don't know how to trim top super crop. and they are using only store bought clones . I could grow meds under a t5 and carry it into any med mart get top dollar per zip. look just as solid as a hps grow quality actually better then hps . if you know how to mix spectrums at finish .

I was going to buy a 4ft x 8bulb T5. I was going to buy a 48x24x60 tent. Then someone said it wont work because the light wont fit in the tent. The light is bigger than 4ft and the tent is smaller than 4ft.

Just verify dimensions the tent states 48" the light fixture should fit fine. It may require little extra room for cord depending on type of t5. That size tent is perfect for your 2 plant scrog. My closet is 2x4 I ran a 400 two plant setup utilizing 2x3 area basically. I had one inline fan that was hooked up pulling through filter ducted to hood. The hood ducted to fan that is exhausting hot smelly air to attic. Since I have gone to a tent in my closet that is 2x3x5 and use led ($500). Little more stealth and a lot less heat and pretty perfect for two plants.

I have cannibalized the ballast and sockets from a Tek 4 (HTG Supply) to fit in a 18"x18"x40" box.
I have them running vertically up the corners instead horizontally above the plant
Might not be a bad idea to at least put the PL-55 T5's as consideration as you only need 21.25 inches of space from socket ends to bulb tip
Grown in soil, easily able to pull 35-45 grams in about 4 months from seed. Nice tight lil nugs from the box I made.
That being said, once you do it, you may get bit by the grow bug and want to upgrade.
A 400 watt HPS is good in that tent your describing.
I have the Agromax small tent, so it is a tad smaller and I have a 380/400/600 switchable ballast.
I usually run at 400 when it is warm outside but during winter I can run @ 600 and when I do....
I need at minimum 2 9" oscillating fan inside (the 6" did not work to well for me)
A sealed hood reflector with duct fan sucking air from hood with fresh passive intake.
I have a 170 cfm (running at 50% power) inline fan sucking air out through a passive intake as well. .
My inside temps have maxed out around 15F above outside temps. Average is above 10F
A 3rd or 4 oscillating fan inside would allow for internal temps to drop more
or run the inline fan at 100%, but that gets noisy.

would it be better to use a 48x24x84 tent with a 4ft T5? Or is that much height not needed for a T5 scrog and just go with the 48x24x60?

you can use 24x24x60 if you want. I did and use to kick ass with it BUT with a 250 hps. I mostly grow one nice size plant with that tent. now I have 36x24x60 and im gonna do two plants. SAME 250. with one plant I was averaging 4-5 1/2 ozs with 3-4 weeks veg from seed. the tent with the 2 small plants is the 2x3 the other is the 2x2

Thank you for the reply. I see a 36x20x60. So I could scrog 2 plants in that tent with a 250watt cooltube? would there be enough space for 2 plants?
