Can you clone AutoFlowers?

Autos need rest before their next surge of growth/bloom due to limited life cycle. 22/2 is good. We do 19/5, but then again, it's mass production and we're looking for the best phenos for seed development.
Go ahead and do 24/0....

Actually do auto's even resemble the strains they're suppose to be auto'ing? Cause I hear they cop a lot of flak when compared to the real thing. I've tried a gorilla glue auto and was super happy with it. I guess a valid question is...are auto's good to use as a try before you buy for photos?

Interesting. I was just reading on Mephisto's website they do 24/0, I guess it's just what works best for your objectives. I'm going to try the 24/0 and see what happens, then go from there next time. Fun part about gardening!

Where? Where are these growers that have "cloned" autoflowers?
I have cloned many autoflowers- you can do it. the way is to take only the first (lowest two sets of branches. The lower on the plant the better. If you grow out only the lowest branches and top the plants, they will still veg a bit. Every autoflower is a little different depending on the gene mix the smallest ones you won't ave much luck with.

That’s exactly what I do, I’m always cloning them.

You tell me why my autos started to reveg on 24/0?
They weren't auto's if they re-vegged.

Lpena007 I've read every post you made in this topic, and it's clear to me you don't understand what auto flowers are. I'm honestly not trying to be mean.
Autoflowers have a pre determined life span and will flower regardless of the light cycle due to Rudderalis genetics bred into them. Google Rudderalis if you would like to understand more.

I do 24/7 in winter to keep temps up and 20/4 in the summer. Here is my observations:

24/7 seems to get me a longer veg cycle. I don't notice any sort of down time with the droopy leaves that you sometimes see before lights out or just after lights on. I believe this is Phototropism maybe ? (too tired to google it)
Basically it seems to me the plants learn their light cycle. If I leave them on 24/7 they don't know any different and keep on trucking. When I have them on a different light cycle they seem to learn it and expect their nap times every day. I find I get slightly larger plants due to extended veg times on 24/7.

I'm no expert, these are just my observations over a couple years of doing auto's on different light cycles.

Ok thats interesting. I feel like i should maybe gradually increase my light time by half an hour ove the next week until i get to aleast 22/2 now. Do u think gradually increasing the time would have a negative affect on my girls.

I think consistency is your best bet. I've seen really good results anywhere from 18/6 to 24/7. If I didn't need to keep my temps up I would run with what ever saves the most power to be honest.

Can you spray your Auto with silver nitrate and make auto seeds?
You can use Silver thiosulfate solution (STS) or colloidal silver. I use home made Colloidal silver to make mine. But I think STS would be a better option. The materials for CS is just easier and cheaper to come by for me.

Just take note, you would think that once you start making your own seeds, you will never have to buy seeds again... You soon realize that collecting genetics becomes addictive and leads to even more seed buying !

Hello everybody,
Sorry for being just new in this forum (don't know if its the right place to post first). I just made my profile to post about cloning autoflowers. I'm a lazy gardener that test all lazy stuffs like for example making own soils with only nearby ingredients. So like I felted lazy dealing with all the precautions that need the pollination of only one branche in a flowering autoplant I decide to clone them for seed.

I did research on forums and newspapers and as everybody what claiming the same and the contrary I just tried to clone some and it works.

Procedure was simple :
- Just after seing the sex I cut the two lowest branches (which were the only enought long for cloning)
- Dipped the freshly cutted tip in fresh aloe vera gel (Don't know if its really interesting but I had it anyway) and planted in pot with pure sphagnus soil on 8 top centimer and rich soil mix at the bottom (in case it roots, the clones would have food very quickly)
- Cutting was put in 20/4 light under V2 isled growing bar (a french maker that work on perfect specter for growing light, the growing light is said to particurlarly stimulate root formation)

What I seen :
- First sign of rooting (growing light green leaves) was caught after 14 days - in fact root reached the bottom of the pot.
- Photos of clones and mother was taken 22 days after cutting
- From six clones just three seem to grow (And it was the biggest cut)
- The biggest is now 12 cm tall and growing fast --> maybe stretching already ?
- The mother plant is the one that is yellowish on the middle and left of the photo (ph fluctuation due i think to the ash solution I gave it two weeks ago) yes the plant shape is modified by guiding to fit in this 90 cm height locker. Strech is finished and plant are 25 cm from light source - i'm lucky!
- Mother is a time of the photos is finishing third flowering week.

Conclusion :
- Cloning is possible but i could only get few clones before mother began to stretch and bloom (this period of cloning can may be extended with particular varieties)
- The clones haven't followed the flowering clock of the mother. Seems more like it paused it until enought rootstock is done ?
- The mother has done a X3 X4 strech so the varietie and capacity of growing/strectching before blooming may change cloning ability (you have to get some enought long lower branches before cloning ! and how many can you get ?)
- I don't really think it is interesting for production but I will pollinate the clones and see if i can get seeds from the clones and weed without seeds from the mothers.
- It may be interesting for home breeding (cloning all female and pollinite with selected male, keeping the seeds from the clone taken from the mother with best caracters).
- Let's see how much time the hormone rythm has paused now by finishing both blooming and compare !

PS :
Varieties are Auto haze x Auto Gambian
and Sour spyder x Auto haze.

Will send photos in further times to show the future of these clones.
