Can you clone a flowering plant?

So here is my dilema.

I have been growing the same strain for a long while now, and I really like it. But I decided a few weeks ago, that I was gonna try a new strain and lay this one to rest.

Well, enjoying the smoke with a couple friends, they as they were going on and o n about how awesome my marijuana is, I thought, maybe I should just create more space and grow both strains.

I have the money, time and enegry to do so, but my plants are about 5 weeks into flowering.

I know it is possible to revert a flowering plant back to vegetative...but is it too far along now?

Is it at all possible to cut a clone and hope to veg it?

yes it can go ask mygirls thats what he did and still does he cuts flowering clones and then reverts them basically

If anyone remember this thread.....

It has been about a month and I have your update.

I am still not sure if it is possible. HAHA the cut kinda went mutant on me.

At first, the little bitty bud that was on it, the white hairs turned red like it was looking to be harvested, then eventaully shriveled and died. It looked like it was doomed and very droopy and I didn't fuss over it too much as that kills plants more than anything, I just watered it when it needed watered and left it in the veg cycle. My husband thought it was cruel to hold on to such a pathetic looking plant. I told him it will sink or swim and we will see. Then it started growing, oddly.

It produced leaves with straight edges instead of your classic jagged edges of the MJ plant. My husband once again told me something else must of mated with it or something and I needed to destroy it before it hurt my other plants. I was not so sure. I plucked off the weird leaves (I know I could of doomed it) and gave it one small shot of veg food. Since then, it has grown into the small bush you will see in the pictures below.

Out of sheer curiosity and scientific neccessity....I am going to keep it and bring it to flower eventually.

Watch it be the greatest smoke I ever had.

Sorry, we all care. Me, I am just always a wee bitty late....

Looking nice and bushy SunnyDaze. I have done it before but it was 2 weeks into flowering so no real bud but the early calyx and stigmas' were there. They just shrivelled up and died like you said. Will you update it's progress in this thread? Will sub anyway and check in from time to time. Good luck with it.

sry sunny, i fell asleep waiting for your post, best time for cloning is about a week into bloomimg is my experience

i cloned a plant after it flowered then i revegged it, then i cloned after a reveg. it worked but it wasnt very good. it seems after the plant has flowered they degrade big time....thats what ive experianced anyway

Clones can be taken off of flowering plants successfully. The key is to cut them from plants that are not too far into flowering, for the best results. Reverting back to vegging is stressful on a plant. It is best to limit any stress while trying to root a plant. I have successfully rooted cuttings from plants 4-5 weeks into flowering, but I usually take them from lower branches that haven't progressed to far into bloom. :peace:

Thanks for responding. I was having one of the bitchy girl moments *smiles*

I will up date this thread every few weeks or so and letcha know how it goes.

<3 for all the help +rep for being nice.

It is actually fairly normal for you clone to seem "mutated". 3 leaves twisted branches ect. Aslong as you know it's fem it should be fine

i took 2 clones from 2 diff flower plants six weeks in flower put straight into dwc in flower no humidity dome in 5 days got roots and one now a week and a half old has roots 6-7 inches long
i heard everyone say u got to revegg or roots take up to a month to show so i did it just to see so either others did something diff or im just got a hell of a green thumb
like u i notice that on that had a small start of a bud lost hairs but it will put out more i guess it is focusing on roots and this cause it to do this

As stated already in this thread it is possible to clone flowering plants. I have taken cuts from plants on harvest day and rooted them with no problems. the longer ur cuts are into flower the longer they will take to grow roots and as stated and revert back to veg could take a month or longer. Thick is to take a cut from the bottom of the plant or a nug that is the least mature. Id recommend actually recutting a later flowering cut once u get reveg growth on ur cuts to help speed up the reveg process. Hope this helps. Peace

i know it was stated but i wanted to add my input since the more people reaffirm something the more likely it is truth seems that the poster asked a ? and since the thread is open i will try to answer the ? so u saying sInce someone else said u can i shouldnt post ? i didnt see u say the same thing to all the others but is it because i dont have many post or rep as them and i never seen a reply saying this discussion is closed so if its open i will respond if i feel i have something to offer whether u feel that or not

im not mad but dont like being told basically we already talked about so dont butt in
