Can ya make popcorn from hemp seeds?

I'm curious if you can.. I've heard you can but never have tried it as never have a large enough of spare seeds to do such..
 
its called popcorn because you need corn. not hemp seeds.
if that was the case we'd have carrot corn and potato corn and a bunch of other vegetables popped into corn.

there is a strain of weed called "popcorn" or corn weed!
never tried it. but its not popcorn.

Probably wouldn't? Definitely wouldn't. There is no THC in hemp seed. The psychoactive content of weed is in the buds (or to be pedantic, bud and leaves) themselves, not the seeds.

If you want to know if you can 'pop' hemp seed and make popweed (hahaha)...hang on, I'll let you know in about 15 minutes.
EDIT: I'm just sitting some seed on top of the combustion stove/heater. I'll let you know if it pops.

Never had a seed make it into your bowl? When you add flame it pops, and totally ruins a good portion of the bowl, will even burn holes in your pants.

The pop is pretty loud, but it's not popcorn
 
No pop...but then I haven't thrown any in some oil in a pan either. I'm just 'dry roasting' on the top of the wood burning heater. But yeah, seed can explode when burnt in your billy or J, but I don't think it'll 'pop' in the same manner as popcorn does. If I get the urge when I wake up (it's 4 am here and I need to sleeep), I'll try throwing a little oil in a pan and popping some.

Yeah, might just chew on 'em raw like I usually do. An excellent source of fibre and Omega 3 and 6 oils. I only wish they were legal as a foodstuff here in Oz. The best we can do here is get hemp massage oil.
 
alright thanks, rather find out instead of trying it and it fail cause I figured someone else had tried it lol.

Lol you and OP may be dead by now, 13 years later… Hope all is well. Anywho, shopping on Amazon over here and came across “popped sorghum”.Curiously googled popping hemp seeds. IDK. I pop Popcorn for a living and would be cool to learn if they pop!
 
Some pop and some don't. The ones that pop will pop right out of the pan. They do not expand like corn. Most just burned up. The rest are all over the top of the stove. Should have used a lid. These were old seeds that have just been sitting around in a small jar so results might be better with fresh seeds that contain a higher moisture content. I didn't want to use my good stuff.
