I got 2x rw75s in a 2x2. I don't have any experience with HPS so i can't comment on that part but i can say a51 is LEGIT. I've used cfls and a 135w Blackstar and even though i got some decent frosty nugs with those, they definitely don't compare to the rw75s. Even with all the problems i got goin on or didn't catch in time i've never seen anything frostier than what's under these A51 lights. Just my 2cents.

I have a 4x4 and run 4 smaller lights and enjoy the flexibility of multiple strains, heights and finish times. Over 600 watts and still a shadow or 2.
Good luck!

a 4x4 will be covered by a Phillips 315 watt CDM 4K will work for both veg & bloom ! & runs pretty cool !
$400 bucks Ballast, wiring, Bulb..... I have 3, 1 in veg & 2 replaced my 1000 hps due to too much heat ! & lower cost running.... I don't have any issues now & don't even vent the hoods.....

I'm sorry but I call bullshit. I almost went with CMH for a grow set up and believe it's a good choice for some people but in a 4x4 with under 20 watts a square foot it will not deliver impressive numbers.

3x3 it will deliver like a mutha fucka. im loving my sun systems lec. two will be placed into my 4x4. it's not the wattage, it's the spectrum.

to answer op question. no, one unit will not come close to replacing a 600w hps. you wont get near the coverage or penetration you would with a 600w hps. which is why i chose not to use led. i figured i would need 4 rw150/xgs190's to get where i wanted and penetration still wouldn't be worth a fuck. i get better penetration from the sun systems lec then i do with 600w hps.

I use 1 in veg on a rail & it does my 5x5 veg. & Bloom has 2 butted together on a rail does my 6x6 for 9 or so plants... We shall see I will post results when that time comes.... I think I use a different bulb mine seems bigger than most.... at like 10-12 inches in length....

I bought an xgs-190 about a month and a half ago, about 4 1/2 weeks into flowering with my Sour G. The footprint isn't as big as I'd like but it will flower 2 smaller plants or 1 bigger plant no problem. The fans are extremely quiet, in my closet right next to my bed, and with a window ac unit in my room the closet only peaks at 72.4F in the middle of the summer. As soon as I get the money up I'm definitely gonna be buying another one, no questions asked

^^exactly. 2 small plants or one big plant. that cant compete with 600w hps.

its hard to go from nine 5'+ tall plants covering a 4x4 area to one light covering one or two plants. i just cant imagine getting 16+ ounces from one led that cost less then 2 grand any time soon.

I think it is, my first ever indoor grow I grew 4 under one xgs 190 which was too much but as crowded as it was i got 6 1/2 oz. Of bud with no side lighting. My tent is 3x3.20140712_161520.jpg

that's less then i would pull in my 3x3 with a 400w hps. though better canopy management definitely would have led to better yield on that run.

its only 190 true watts. i see a lot of light leakage. if you were to lollipop your yeild probably would be more.

Yeah when i got done i was thinking could have been better but for a first indoor run with no major screw up i was happy just getting thru it and they're curing nicely. That was my first grow in a long time and only grew outside where I did get very good yield. It'll get better as I go.

Yes depending on the size of each plant, my Sour G covers 5 sq ft on its own so I prefer to flower just that plant under 1 light but the yield should definitely reflect on it's size. I mainlined it so it's fairly spread out and since it's a sativa dominant hybrid it had a lot of stretch.

you flower a 5' x 5' plant under a light with a flowering footprint of 30" x 30"?

even in your pictures, there is no light penetration from the middle of the plant down and that's a pretty whispy saty.
