can someone explain who are using digital ballast right now. What is the difference with using the regular old fashion ballast compared to the digital ballast and what is that dimmer switch i see on them used for ? Also what is the best size reflector wing to use to cover like 6 plants the wing reflector i'm using is really cheap made and small so i was thinking of getting me a bigger wing reflector for my 600 watt system

I do not own neither, but from what I have looked up on them (because I was confused as well) Is that the digital ballasts will produce more power to the light allowing the bulb to burn brighter. Digitals have shorter light up time, and can operate both HPS, and MH lighting. Older style ballasts, seem to be more prone to failure as well. The fall backs to them, and I am not sure to what extent, but apparently digital ballasts can interrupt wireless signals, and can cause interference in cable, and phone utility's

Digital ballast has two major advantages: it's dimmable, and it is somewhat more efficient, staying cooler in operation.

Magnetic ballast has two major advantages, aside from price: it's gentler on your bulbs, and it can be repaired by a modestly skilled home craftsman. cn

I have a digital ballast. Nextgen 400/600
I love owning it because it will run both Metal Halide and HPS bulbs . Running it is only making my electric bill go up about $20 a month running a 600W HPS.
It is small and compact. I can keep it in my grow room .

he asks can someone who is using a digi ballast and the first respondant dosnt use either one lmao! The newer digital ballasts are more energy efficent, and can be controlled with a dimmer pretty damn sweet in my opinion, or you can go magnetic ballast have that badboy get so hot you can heat your coffee on it, plus they tend to pull more amps/energy then the newer digital ballasts do. Cant go wrong with that new digital tech imo.
