i wanted to give my flowering bitches more light should i mount the Lights to the side of the walls or the floor pointing up? i guess the wall sounds better for middle growth but would lights mounted to the floor help to or is it a wast of time?

Yes, they can receive light from below (They used to think leaves didn't like it... this has been disproven). White plastic on the soil can reflect up and reduce drying of the soil (but air flow is needed to prevent mold).
have fun

Where ever you see green, it means chlorophyll is presant, and thats the magic chemical for photosynthesis.
So Your plant will obsorb light from any direction.

But the underside of the plant leaf is a different shade of green from the top, i have never heard of this before. I have always been told that light on the underside of leafs will dry them out.

maybe i'm wrong?

crazy so i'm just putting lights all over this bitch then shes 4 weeks in looking great up top but i want as much bud as i can get so bring on the cfls baby

Hold up a sec b4 you set ur lights up, im sure lights shining from the bottom up will not do any extra good, maybe even harm them.

No the don't the bottom of the leaves are facing downwards there isnt as much light getting to the underneath side as there is on top as the sunlight (light in general) travels in straight lines it is impossible for the sunlight to reach the underside of the leaf directly so the underside does not photosynthesize as the direct sunlight does not hit the underside of the leaf.

so in short no the underside of the leaf does not absorb as much light as the top.

Side lighting is great for plants, but you only want to light up the top surface of the leaf, not the underside as this will dry them out.

cool so no underneath light just side light at a down angle:blsmoke:

My source is OpenGrow dot com. Sannie, excellent breeder with killer results (I havn't been able to equal his grow prowess). It may be anecdotal, but I suspect not.
BTW Light is omnidirectional, reflected light will strike the bottom of the leaf (underside) and the leaf has the capacity to maximize whatever photonic activity it recieves. Without a doubt the topside is the most adapted for that application and the underside for resperation. Having said that, they are by no means exclusive.
So ya keep the light from the top as much as possible BUT ya score an additional percentage by having a reflective film down by the soil. Furthermore, you get less evaporation. Note: beware of mold (I suggest lifting film for an hour or so a day.0

Peace and out!:bigjoint:

hey man what ive learned is that having a light close under a leaf is bad news!!! heat rises and will fuck up your leaf. so keep it so it isnt close under a leaf.
