Can normal people recognize a plant?

I plan on guerrilla growing in a very suburban area, there is almost no spot with sunlight that is not visible to houses. I could grow in my backyard, but my neighbor's window is in sight 20 feet away. My question is, can normal people who are not associated with weed recognize a plant when they see it? Do they look around everywhere trying to spot a weed plant like us?

how many songs about weed do you think there are?

how many people may have not seen the actual plant, but have smelled it or smoked it?

how many icons and symbols are out there depicting a weed leaf or buds?

the answer is tons and tons. so growing in an urban environment is not really feasible. people do it, and get away with it, but i for one would never recommend it.

There is a post about growing in these conditions somewhere in the outdoor growing section.

The grower kept all his plants trained to ground level and it makes the plants look like ground cover. Even into flowering the plants never got more than 6-8 inches off the ground.

He also stated that people would come over to get high and never noticed it and walked right by it as it was right outside the front door in the flowerbeds.

Really a helluva concept and he pulled it off without a hitch.

True, that's good logic. However, do you think that if i grow the weed among several other similar height plants, but still visible to houses, will people notice?

It's not the normal people you should be worried about... Smell is an issue as stated before... Putting fake flowers with alligator clips will throw a normal person off but not for long

You almost nailed it bro!!
Flowers? No

What does a weed plant look like the most?............. Give up?
My neighbor down the street grows in his front yard. He's in his 30s we live on a cultisac that has nothing but old people around us. He takes fake tomatoes and hangs them on his plants. We were smoking a blunt on his front porch, the old lady next door walked by and commented on the MOST GORGIOUS tomato plant she's ever seen... We pretty much died of laughter

You can get away with the looks... But... Smell will cost you big time..

P.S. Why can't pot heads be "normal people" too? What's that all about?

I'd be more worried about people who are "associated" with it spotting them.

My question is, can normal people who are not associated with weed recognize a plant when they see it? Do they look around everywhere trying to spot a weed plant like us?

Well, everyone in my family knows what the plant is, but my parents taught at Columbia University in the 1960s and they had a very reasonable attitude toward smoking so us kids were casual smokers as well.

Fast forward to this Thanksgiving, and my brother brings his wife and niece over -- he knows I have a little grow going in the apartment. My 7-year-old niece is of course very curious as to what I'm doing, so I tell her these are my Mexican tomato plants and its an experiment. She's cool with that.

But my sister-in-law who is EXTREMELY conservative and sheltered took one look at them and said "Really? It looks like marijuana to me." She would have gone to her grave thinking they were Mexican tomato plants if I hadn't started laughing. But she did see them for what they were.

If SHE can tell they're marijuana at a single glance, so can 90% of the U.S. population. Maybe someone's old grannie can't. But in a country where most people think it should be legalized, you can bet they know what it looks like.

Id probably stroll over and strike up a conversation about that nice tree you are growing. But you could buy off my silence by inviting me over harvet day. However most squares would probably rat you out :-(

visibilty is one thing, it can be managed, but if they are actually people looking for that particular thing it may still be noticed(IE cop or rippers, which unfortunately could be the stoner kid a few doors down with a keen eye) but there are more sense than visibilty and when that time of the year comes, people will smell it, even low odor strains are gonna have some smell, so to get away with that in my eyes it would have to be a small plant and harvested early to avoid the peak of the smell.

and then there is animals, curios dogs pulling their unwitting walkers. and such.
