Exactly what the title says. Have a big 50 gal ebb n flo reservoir. It's a bitch fillin her up. Can I just use water from my outside hose with a filter on it?
Does anyone do this.? I knew of someone who did but I never got to ask them how that worked out for them.
Thank RIU!

Yes we do. If your under 400ppm from the filter your ok. Any more I might think of RO. If soil 600ppm might be good but hydro it's bad.

Damn Warlock your on top of everything! Really appreciate the help lol. Thanks my man, I'm gonna order a filter. Any ideas on which one I should get?

I built a system using hydro logic filters was told it didnt work but they never Tryed agin. I use growonix but that might be over kill. Plus the people I built the system for use it once every 6 weeks at best. So war the way I told them too. I don't trust there use. I want the system back so I can use it for my outdoor grow. Not waste it on part time people. And yes I'm everywhere. I grow indoor outdoor big and small. Hydro and soil. So jack of all master of none.

I had trouble with 200ppm water. You might not.
But yes ... if your water is of good quality (and that measure is somewhat subjective) you'll do fine without a filter. I would aerate it for a spell to remove any chlorine first ... cn

Hydrologic "tallboy" and "smallboy" filters aren't RO filters. They're merely sediment filters. Most retailers who sell R&M/CAP products don't know this, because R&M does not include this information in their wholesale catalog descriptions. Gotta find out the hard way. Boy is that a mess...

Anyways, to the OP: Why do you need a filter? You got chunks coming outta your hose? Straight tap works fine for me.

Very true. Water in my area is realy bad. I use RO for my hydro. Basic filtered water for soil. The one I made was just to help see if my buddy could improve the water he has been using. If not I'm taking it to my out door grow next year. That is on a well with realy poor water.

I was under the impression that straight tap water wasn't really healthy for the plants. That's why.
