Can I use regular Clonex in my clonex mist? Do I need to dilute it?

I am going to start a clone session, and built a cloner. I have the regular Clonex, but I do not have very much in my clonex mist sprayer. Can I just pour some clonex into the clonex mist sprayer bottle and rock on? Do I have to ph the clonex? What ph for a foliar spray for clones? Should I dilute it to help it come out of the sprayer? What ratio? Anyone ever do this?

Regular clonex is pretty shit. after watering gell is gone.

Just dip the cuts and let the cloner do its thing. Works fine with just tap water.

I put some 1/4" tubing in my tray. I poked some holes an hooked it up to a pump. I set the grodan grow cubes in my propagation cone tray and popped some cuttings with gel in there. Used RO water some clonex solution, Mad Farmer B1 and Nuts, a couple of drops of superthrive, ph set to 5.5, 190ppm.
Sprayed the leaves with some seltzer water and sprayed the dome too. Placed the dome on top. I had to tape some panda paper to the side that was facing the outside of my 24 hour light grow area. Hey, every lil' bit helps.
My 24 hour spot has some footprint challenges, so I pulled the cups of seedlings out of their bins and that freed up just enough room for the propagation tray. I pumped some co2 through the vents on top of the dome and sealed them ladies up for the duration. I'm gonna change the air this afternoon and let them breath for half an hour or so, check the ph and then drop the dome back on, pump some more co2 in and do this on my 12 hr change the co2 routine for two more days and then ease my girls into their 18/6 lighting. The roots do some stuff in the dark. I think clones are tough, they only need the 24 hrs of light for the first few days. Seedlings need the 24 hrs for at least a couple of weeks. I'll post some pix when these girls get going, but they look great after 18 hours under the dome.

In willing to bet that Clonex rooting solution (not the hormone gel) can be diluted and with the addition of a wetting agent (ex: Transport by Optic Foliar) and have the same results as the Clonex Mist product.

You don't need clonex to root clones.

If you want a rooting hormone just get some IBA. That's all that's in Clonex like most other rooting compounds. $10 for 10 grams. Will make gallons of solution that is just as effective as clonex or any other rooting product.

I've found the cheap powdered MiracleGro Fastroot works as good as any of these Designer products.

i wouldnt use a miracle grow product if they paid me. reg ol gel or powder works just fine.
i can spare the extra 2 bucks

It contains the same ingredient as clonex.

Works just fine.

Millions of people use it with success.

Pay whatever you want. Clonex doesn't work any better than the cheap MiracleGro FastRoot and I've used them both.

That's cool.

I've been using the same container of FastGro for at least 4 years and have 100% success in that time cloning.

As I said, the ingredient that is of importance is IBA "Indole-3-butyric acid" which is found in most cloning products just at different percentages.

If you want a ready to go off the shelf product then both Clonex and MiracleGro will provide very similar results.

At one time I just made my own solution using IBA. These days I'm not doing any significant cloning and am pretty much a seed guy. But the damn Miracle Grow has not failed me yet in years. And it lasts a long time.

All that matters in the end is if you get your clones to root.

im a picky bitch tho.
i dont buy clonex. no need to spend the money on that. as you stated its all just iba with a diff delivery method ie gel, powder etc.
sometimes i dont even use it and still have the same results. every plant is diff. some will root even if you spit on it and throw it at dirt. others require some finesse to get good root %'s. i just stay away from scotts brand anything.

Was just looking at iba on ebay yesterday. Do you know a good ratio to use per gallon?

I beleive what you’re talking about is using the liquid clonex Solution (not the purple gel) in place of clonex mist? If so than yes you can use it at 5ml per quart or liter as a foliar but it still doesn’t do the same thing that clonex mist “claims” it does. But you can use it, it won’t hurt anything I’m just not convinced it helps either. And if you were actually talking about the purple gel than the answer to that is no, definitely not.
