Can I use a regular tent sealed with duct tape as a grow tent?

Can I use a regular tent sealed with duct tape as a grow tent? and if so do I use a carbon scrubber that can accommodate the cubic footage of the tent OR do i need a carbon scrubber that accommodates the room that the grow tent is in?

I would say no, grow tents keep light in and camping tents don't. Grow tents hold odor in better and camping tents breathe. 2 cents please, lol S
 
walmart has these gazebo style tents.. 10x10x7... it has a metal frame from which I was gonna hang my lights from. was gonna buy the extra windguard for it and then tape up all the seems with duct tape. doesnt everything breath the same though? i mean nothing is really air tight.
 
If you have atleast a 1000w hps then yes that walmart tent will work. But they make pretty cheap Grow tents for indoor guys like us now. Is your budget a concern? an extra 100$ would be worth it for a Growers tent.

I dont think even a 1000w hps could melt down a tent w/ metal frames that size /10x10x7 is huge. Dont know what lights he has though, and Im not a fire marshal ether,it could very well be a fire hazzard.

I always thought they were hella expensive. After a quick look this is what I found in my budget. Are any of these any good?

how would I go about hanging my 400 watt air cooled hood from it? are there hooks? Can it handle that much weight. Also what about my carbon scrubber and exhaust fan? Is there a place for the exhaust to exit?

Im not experienced with grow tents at all.

ahhh ok makes sense ;) What makes a good grow tent different than a bad grow tent then? They all look very similar to me but i have no idea what to look for.

come on people are you serious.yes grow tents do keep light from coming in or out but that only for those who need to grow stealthy. you can growing a regular tent if you dont mind the world to know your business, as for the light leaking in as long as it not light bulb light then you are good to go.. when growing outdoors is it pitch black out there,,,, NO IT IS NOT there is still light but not the kind that will hurt.. say liker a tv flickering during the dark cycle will not hurt your plants either..
 
amazon.com, pop for a tent, got mine for 90 bucks, MUCH more suitable, plus it comes with venting, mylar, much more sufficient for u

Sorry a few people are giving you the business over a tent question.. Lets try this, how much is the tent your going to buy? For 89.95 and free shipping you can get a 2x4x7 perfect for that 400w. That gazebo sound good for the beach or backyard to keep bugs out.. Show a stock photo of what you mean.. Ill show you mine, than you can show me yours.LOL

Ok enough of that im going to show an example of a 2x4 then for 4x4.. note that the 4x4 will require another 400w situation to get a closer max yeild on your tent in the future. Make since? (i have 1000w in my 4x4)< haha i guess this is true for more than one reason... the tent and truck lol

Hell man the gazebo tent would work . To be safe though I,d line the ceiling with some material to reflect the heat for thats your hot spot right above the light . A $20 roll of bubble heat insulation would do it . The biggest problem you would run into is once you get it sealed up your exhaust fan can create enough suction to pull the walls inward . You might have to consider reinforcing them .
Have you considered building one ? Whats the cost on the gazebo tent?
