Can I harvest I'm getting too impatient for lower buds

On my first indoor grow, I got well over 1gpw... On Floros.

I harvested about 90% at about week 8-9 from flip, and left the popcorn to grow for another month or two, and just plucked some off every day or so.
^^^ it threw nanners eventually, but it basically doubled the yield. These were my only plants, so pollen wasn't an issue.

Idk if its true, but check this out...

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."
Got a link for that?

Here's some irony - as much as I think things like this are bro-science; some of them also work --- we just don't understand why.

Which is part of why I put my plants in appx 36 hours of darkness on the flip - broscience. I'm comfortable with my contradictions! :p
The other - more important to me - reason for 36 hours was to sync up my two tents so that they have the same 11.5 / 12.5 schedule.

73 days jack herer auto .....

Bit too much on the nitrogen started flushing over a week ago and some leaves are already starting to lighten.....

That said its going to take at least a other few weeks of that and I reckon buds are ready

Lower buds still have some white pistils but Trichomes are milky / half clear

Cola Trichomes are milky amber
Absolutely nothing wrong with harvesting some of your plant.

For my outdoor plants it's my MO. I always plant more than I can possibly harvest. On the 1st run I grab all the tops. Once trimmed, I go for the second run and grab the biggest buds. There's always popcorn left for the last picking if I get to it. Popcorn is usually my personal stash to put me to sleep at night.

Absolutely no link. I actually found the info on another post about this issue and have seen the "study" talked about but never have I found solid evidence it even existed. If this study did happen and an increase was seen, I just don't see it being anywhere NEAR 30%!
I'm completely unsure if this is bro science or not, but either way, leaving my ladies in darkness for a couple days before harvest won't cause harm, right? No harm in 'placebo' growing methods... Haha

Check it out! Nug from my 1st harvest EVER a few weeks ago with some concentrate I made from the LARF dripped on...

The institute of cannabis is full of it. I've done this same strain same cut and in lab testing there was a difference of 1%give or take. The same percentage as if I took a bud from the same plant and had it tested separately.

Damn you pulled that super early. Looks good though. Good luck next time. Ask before you pull next time.

It's a myth.

The "The Stichting Institute of medical Marijuana" story has been going around for years.

The change from CBGA to THCA takes a little time. So in 2 days, you technically do get a trivial increase in THCA. But not because of the dark. The lack of light doesn't affect the passage of time. A few days in darkness certainly would not increase trichome production.

(I have no idea where this image comes from)

There's another myth(?) about adding UV A&B light a couple hour before lights out during flower, so for a couple months, *may increase trichome production. The only reason I tend to believe this (without scientific proof) is because of the growers I know who consistently produce quads with this method. They also claim it gives hydro grown "soil grown" taste. I don't smoke enough to tell the difference, and I don't know anyone who can take a haul and say "this is hydro weed".

I don't know. I'm usually asleep by then.
I smoke to sleep, not for the high. When I smoke before bed (not every night) I sleep like a 17 years old. When I wake up I feel kinda hung over and stagger to wash my face to pull me out of it.

All bets are off for live music. Hope concerts return this year.

I've never felt sickly effects from anything cannabis related but I suppose it's possible and I'm a all day every day smoker.

I know someone that claims they can tell the difference between Hydro weed and Organic weed. He couldn't. Back in the 90s I knew a guy that grew hydro, for profit. Much as I do now, I used to grow enough to keep me in smoke. I grow Organic(ish) weed, always have. Anyway this guy I vaguely knew was professing to be a connoisseur of organic weed. So I offered him some of mine. He claimed he could taste "mother nature" in every draw on this joint, whereas in fact it was some of my mate's hydro weed that he had given me to see what I thought of it. This was the same guy that at a party loved my Mate's home made hash, that was in fact crumbled up cat biscuit. He was a complete bellend.

Back in the day we used to pay more for "hydro". Ignorance combined with better than brick weed and we were sold.

It wasn't brick weed, it wasn't skunk, and we had heard the local Hell's Angels were growing it indoors(!) - the rumors flew.
I know now that I was smelling / tasting a gassy strain for the first time. But my friends & I all swore we could taste the nutes....... :wall: :P

Its funny how some of the more veteran growers here forget the anxiety of the first few grows. I also agree to sample small through grows for new growers. Gives some perspective and little rewards. However, you dont wanna slow pick yourself to no harvest lol. Only sample under the canopy. If I do now I sample popcorn only on new strains
