can i dehydrate fruit and veggies?

Will dehydrating instead of letting the fruit and vegetables decompose lessen my plants ability absorb the nutrients? I grind all that down into a fine powder after it has completely dried.

i have a food dehydrator that will dry out all the water in my fruits and vegetables. I was wondering if doing that instead of creating a compost pile will decrease the amount of nutrients my plant will absorb

as opposed to composting your material, i don't think a food dehydrator is a viable alternative.

..maybe gain a perspective of what goes on in a compost pile?

no.
more nutrients become available when bacteria and fungi mineralize it. like in a compost pile.

A typical garden compost pile takes about three months of cooking to be ready

Two weeks is if it's done professionally, when the pile is huge enough to generate the heat needed, at this size you have to turn it with some kind of a machine.

I find composting takes about 1 year for most of us. If you want to turn it everyday (in a drum or something) I believe that some people do achieve compost in 3-4 months but I've never seen it. Us a worm bin and in 4-6 months you'll start harvesting castings. It just takes time. Buy a few bags of shit and use that until you can get it from your own compost pile. It takes a while but it is worth.
