Yes, it can be a shortage or a block from something else. Finding what causes the purple stems is as important as fixing it.
Good starting point about basic plant chemistry are videos from npk University, lectures from Harvey Smith.

These are couple shade leaves at bottom of plant. Notice the red only on the leaf stem. Not stalk or branches This plant is perfectly healthy
Same plants in bottom photo
If you look it up for purple stem the entire stalk n branches are purple. If this is some deficiencies I’ve had it every grow lol.

some purplish stems are common at this stage. Can't say mine are ever near the bottom only though

I use these and tuck big fan under out the way to get the same effect(mabay better)without taking any goodness from the plant......their about 3 weeks in flower(I think....don’t count....when their done their done)..........you guys need to chill and stop worrying about every little thing.....remember....it’s a weed...
