As the title says.. can I?

By this I mean Pouring water in a gallon bucket then adding the correct amount of nutes and molasses and age it? Or will it have a side effect as in degrading(I use liquid nutes and molasses are obviously liquid)?
I know it will have an impact on the pH but thats not the question :hump:

if by age, you mean leave it sit for a while. thats not a good idea. ive done that before with molasses+water, and it starts to smell awful after 3 days

I only have nutes mixed in with it and there is no smell..
If it helps.. Im using grandmas unsulphured molasses

letting nutes sit in water i think would be ok, especially cause the pH will settle and you can get a more accurate reading. but add the molasses just before you water

I wouldn't let it sit unless you have an air-stone in the bucket. Even then I wouldnt let it "age" for very long.

I drop in an airstone to de-chlorinate the water, its supposed to work in an hour... I give it 3 or overnight. Once de-chlorinated, I put in some nutes, and molasses, and let it mix.

It stinks terrible and if you let it sit out too long it starts to ferment, I think. At least mine did. I filled my cup i use to water from the jug and forgot where i put the cup for a few days. Nutes and water are fine, its the sugar in the mollasses that does it.

i agree that you should add molasses when needed.

i recently added molasses to my nutes and allowed it to sit out over 2days with airstones running. my pH dropped from 6.2 to 3.9 and i had a jelly like substance coating my airline.

needless to say i ditched the nutes with molasses mixed in and now only add molasses when needed .
