Can handfeeding rockwool cause mold in DWC?

My seedlings are in small rockwool cubes, in hydroton, in net pots, in a rubbermaid bin. I am runnin a dwc sog and I am planning on hand watering my rockwool cubes until the roots reach down into the nutrient solution, but is there any danger of this method causing mold or fungus from keeping the rockwol and hydroton too wet and damp? I was thinking that a reflective cover over the net pots would be a good idea...

- Yes. Feed from the bottom. Fill the tote until the water level is touching the bottom of the net pots, keep it that full til the roots are in the water. You can cover the tops of the net pots with aluminum foil, or use hydroton (best).

yep if you do not have enough airflow or to much moister all the time will cause mold. you can have a lot of moister and plenty of air flow and not get mold

Sogfarmer: RTFB. That's covered in detail in many of these resources. I wish there was an easier way, but from what you ask, I think you might be new to this so I’d suggest the following:
1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s book, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS- GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.”
2. Read: Jorge Cervantes’s book, “MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR MEDICAL GROWER’S BIBLE.”
3. Read: Ed Rosenthal’s, “MARIJUANA GROWER’S HANDBOOK.”
4. You’ll also want to read: Mc Carthy’s book, “GROWING MARIJUANA.”
5. You should also subscribe to, “HIGH TIMES,” magazine. Each issue is chocked full of useful information. .” All these resources are very well written, well illustrated and packed with information that will answer most of your questions before you know to ask them. And I want to add a new book to the list, a 6[SUP]th[/SUP] one: “THE CANNABIS GROW BIBLE- SECOND EDITION,” written by Greg Green. It’s a match to, if not better than, the ones listed above. Doing your homework and consulting these resources will save you and your plants a lot of anxiety before you plant. I hope this helps. HSA

I almost NEVER add water through the top and it usually only happens when I do a heavy spray in veg state. Other than that, you should try to avoid pouring water directly down into the rock wool... Not only can you cause mold to form, but if you don't have the pH near the same level of the res you can shock your plant pretty good and stop nutrient uptake for a day or so.

Good luck!
