Can a rootbound plant produce good clones?

Hi everyone!
The title of this post is a question i had to ask myself recently, so I'm looking for more experienced opinions..

I have two "mother" plants that went rootbound in small pots and now show really short internodal distance, along with twisted leaves and droopiness.

The plan was to make clones out of them from the beginning (with aero cloner, moving to dwc then) but now i wonder if the clones themselves might get affected in any way.

Will the original genetic plant structure pop back up after the clones are cut and moved?
Or do you think should i transplant the moms first to have 100% healthy clones?

Here a picture of the plants, and one of the shoots.
Thanks for every answer!

I can't imagine those are genuinely root bound.

If you search bonsai mothers you'll probably see it won't hurt none at all.
Since the bonsai mother gets its roots pruned regularly .

Just my opinion, but I don't see an issue and I'm certain the genetics won't change at all.

Rootbound only really matters in flower, and even then it can be circumvented. I keep my mothers in 4x4 rockwool cubes for months on end. I'll kill them when I clone to start over. Only had to kill mothers once, due to a fungus gnat problem, but I managed to get clones off of them and keep'em going.

My plants won't win any awards, but they do their job just fine.

Edit: I know someone who kept a cannabis tree in a 4x4 stacked on a 12x12 rockwool cube for 5+ years. The thing was absolutely fucking massive.
