California Light Works VegMaster...

In a 2.5 x 2.5 x 5 grow tent, for vegging 4 plants to a height of 18 inches, would a California Light Works 200-watt VegMaster do a really good job? Would it penetrate the canopy pretty well?

Yeah looks like it should. You can always put some cfls on the corners of the tents if they need a little extra light to the lower branches.

Do you plan to do a scrog or sog??

Not planning to scrog or sog...just vegging 3-4 plants to a height of 18 inches...will FIM once.

But I don't want to have to provide side lighting...if the VegMaster can't do the job very well by itself, then I'll just go back to MH lighting...it did the job very well, but heat management was a problem.

If youre gonna fim you should just tie down those 4 branches and thatll help alot of light get in.

Yes......it will do a fantastic job of it even in a larger area.
