What's the wattage and for how much? Is it still under warranty, and can they prove it? You can get a brand new one for around $100, and that's for a 1000w digital dimmable ballast, so a 600w, 400w, so on will be less... I wouldn't buy a used one unless it was dirt cheap to the point where it wouldn't be too big of a deal if it went out on me, or if it had a decent amount of time left on the warranty...When buying used digital ballasts, anything I want to watch out for?
Good stuff to consider! Just what I was looking for. Thanks +repWhat's the wattage and for how much? Is it still under warranty, and can they prove it? Sounds good! Thanks +repWhen purchasing used, test them if you can and don't pay more than half the orignal cost or less. Ballasts with fans in them have a tendency to burn out quicker than ballasts with heat sinks.
Good Luck
Saw on the furums here someone needing the cable company to come out and do something with their cable wiring. Do you recommend any particular brands that don't emit erroneous radio waves?make sure it's not some cheap chinese made rf emitting trash or you might get someones attention that you may not want.
Thanks! +repprobably if you looked hard you'd find lots of comments about that, internally rf shielded would be the important thing. I have one the cable guy says "so you're the one that's lighting up the whole neighborhood" , I run solis tek now.
Yes, used ballasts. Electrical items are one things that are generally not returnable for a reason. Industrial strength units like low bay shop fixtures are another matter. When buying used digital ballasts, anything I want to watch out for?
i wouldnt trust a used digi ballast. the capacitors could be shot(light turns on then off repeat) and u wouldnt be able to tell untill the lamp is on for at least an hour.
if the savings of a used ballast is greater then ur time and effort of watching a crop go hermie on ya then go for it.[/QUOTE
I was wondering if ballasts would work till they heat up and go on and off etc... Thanks +rep
