You're OK with beating the living shit out of your own child but not OK with your child defending himself against someone else's child? As someone with 3 children and who was severely abused by their parents AND had to bust some punk kid in the head with a rock as a child myself (there were a bunch and i picked the biggest one and cracked his fucking skull with the nearest rock i could manage to lift), I'm gonna go ahead and say that you're doing it wrong.

First off. When I said beat the living shit out of the son I didn't literally mean take a iron bar and beat his brains in like the son did to the other kid. If you really thought I meant a beating that badly, you need some common sense.

Secondly, nowhere in OP's story did he mention that son was defending himself. Im pretty fucking sure when you take an iron bar and hit someone in the face with it, its usually not defense. How often do you get jumped by someone, happen to find a metal bar and then hit them in the face? HUH? Not pretty often I bet.

Well put. Having an iron bar in your hand shows intent. And considering it's also a "deadly weapon", that's a big assault charge.

If you are in a fight and you aren't looking for (and finding) ways to gain the advantage using your surroundings you probably get the shit kicked out of you a lot.
