It's supposed to prevent stretching, my question is do you lose nodes?

say you put a 5 inch clone to flower you know ends up being around 24 inches after stretch. during that stretch it gains 10 nodes (just using a random number) would the bushmaster cause you to have a 15 inch clone with 10 nodes or would you lose some nodes in the process and just get more side branching?
