burping jars?

It's always a good idea to at least check them once a day. If they seem dry, close it up and repeat.

If they are too dry you can put a damp cloth over the top before you seal it.

Leave the bud in the jar for a day or two or three and check if the bud has returned some, too much, or no moisture. The dryness of the bud will be your guide

Lots of discussion with this here. I hang the whole plant whenever possible until it is dry, nice crisp branches that snap. Then using tall jars cut the branches off in as long of lengths as possible for the jars, burp daily for the first month. After the first month or so this I have good smoke but I am also able to go for a month or more without burping further and allowing the bud to totally cure. It is a long and slow process, but for my personal smoke worth the wait. Just opened a jar from Dec 26th of last year for the daily smoke and it is completely worth the wait.

dry buds should contain about 15% moisture.. if u hang dry your buds and dont cure them, chances are your bud wont be as potent nor will it smell or taste as dank as cured bud.. i think about 90% of peeps on this site advise curing. i absolutely do. hang dry til step snaps and then seal them up in an air-tight GLASS jar and open once a day to burp (let moisture out) repeat until some moisture comes back and the dank smell comes back as well.. dont get discouraged, my last grow i had to wait 3 weeks of curing for the smell to come back, and im sooo glad i waited,, tasty danky dank!

when you see theres nomore moisture in the jars the better you sweat then the better the smoke and the smell should come back after a few weeks

any one comment on this?
I trimmed and hang in a drying rack.
THen with the stems bendy I put in jars.
I dump back on the rack.

Stems still slightly bendy,

How long should I burp?

I like to do 30 mins 3 times a day for the first week then 1hr twice a day for the 2nd week...after that I just store and open every now and then afterwards!

When you dry your plants, you can't wait until the stem snaps, or it's too late. At that point, you've over-dried your plants, and they'll smoke horribly.

Dry your plants until the stems bend, a few might snap. Then move them into jars. Let them sit for at least 12 hours, then burp the jars for an hour. Close the jar, and let sit another 12 hours, and repeat. I usually let the jars sit open for 30 minutes, but for the first or second burping, I let the jar sit open for an hour.

Drying and curing are necessary to do in tandem if you want to preserve the taste and overall THC of the bud. As the plant dries, chlorophyll leaves the plant. It's NEEDS to be a slow process, if you want to get the most out of your plant's psychoactive potential.

After harvest, starches in the plant are converted into any usable sugar, which go into resin production. The THC isn't mature or ready right after you harvest....you need the drying/curing processes to slowly allow the buds to mature to their optimal potential.

Just my two cents. :-)

I never have any moisture on the inside of my jars, but I do notice the "grass" smell turns into more of a "tea" smell. And it is smoother and tastier. I just kind of burp them at random.
