Burping jars

I'm always finding my harvest dry way too fast here in Norcal. I cut big branches, trim the fan leaves and hang in a closed closet, within 2-3 days they start to get a little crispy on the outside so I put the branches in a paper grocery bag and stuff it in a cubby for a day or so. At this point I cut the buds off the branches and jar.

I've jarred buds still too wet, as well as too dry. What I've been doing every few days is simply dump the bud out into a box, stir it up a little, and re jar.Is it better to just leave the bud in the jar and leave the lid off for a few minutes?

I hang my branches in the same tent I grow in controlling the temp, humidity. I also and have a little airflow but not blowing on the branches directly. Once I find I can snap the branches I buck, trim and place my flower in a turkey bag and then place that into a black air tight bucket. I open the buckets and bags once a day for a few weeks and that's it.

If you're getting crispiness after only a few days then your drying area is very very dry. Leave the fan leaves on so that when you hang your branches they will cover the buds and help them retain moisture longer than if they were exposed. Still, you will want to monitor the RH of your drying area with hygrometers and use either a humidifier or damp rags to bump that RH up. You want to shoot for RH of 58% to 61% for 7 to 10 days. Also if your temps are high that will affect your drying time. Try to keep them below 65 F.

I do the grocery bag tech too. I don't put the branches in the bags though. I hang dry the branches for 7-10 days, then once they reach the right point I break down the buds into the grocery bag. That's where they stay for usually another 7-10 days. I shake them around daily and after a few days I start testing out how it smokes. If it doesn't burn right it stays in the grocery bag until it is just right. Then into jars it goes and I'm done with it. The only time the jars get opened then is to take some out to smoke. I never had the time or patience to mess around burping jars.

The 2*4 here gets more use drying than growing lol
Working great for years.
Terrabloom EC (PWM) fan so I can regulate throughput to a crawl with outside RH in the 30-40's worth a try...
