building a tent

what's up RIU,

I'm trying to build a tent in my closet. I'm thinking 4x4x10ft but I'm not to sure what to use... I know PVC is bad and poisonous to the plants and yourself when heated and Metal seems like a bit of an over kill. Does anyone know of a certain type of PVC that can be used? Also I'm thinking of using panda film to seal the tent. I've added a sketch of what I'm thinking of doing if that helps.

You're not going to heat PVC hot enough in a grow tent to hurt anything.

By the time you buy the pvc and tarp material you could just buy a tent.

logically, that would be the thing to do... considering I'm having trouble finding a tent in the size Im looking for my only option is to make it...

Not even with a 400w HPS? Do you know what the temperature is that will activate whatever poisonous fibers are in the PVC?

There are no fibers in PVC, its a polymer. Its safe for potable water up to 70C, 158F, so I'd use that as a reference. Your plants are long dead at that temp.

I agree with deadgro pvc would be fine. Pvc is used in outdoor greenhouses all of the time for framing.

Yes... that's what I'm looking for. I've been search for weeks for a reasonable price on one similar to that height

Excellent, thank you... would you recommend a certain type of PVC? I know they habe some that are made slightly different for different jobs..

well I saw a 4x4x8 on ebay for about 100 bucks. Seems like that would fit in your space.

I think Secret Jardin or maybe Gorilla makes one that has a height extension. They are more expensive though.

My plants grow tall, even with LST the heat from the HPS starts to curl... I would need at least 10 feet

Just thinking man, but if you're going inside of an existing closet, it might be easier to just get some plywood and 2x4 and build a box.....just a though. peace
