What are your main lights? Are they leds? hids? what spectrum are the plants already getting? Are they getting IR from your other light(s)?

Wondering if this would be a good red supplement to run with my qb132 setup. I am concerned about th IR chips and if they would cause a ton of unnecessary stretch. I am thinking maybe these are more suited for Emerson effect than full time supplement. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254461286688
These look like they are designed for the Emerson effect which can be used as a full time supplement, depending on the strain. All the reds will cause stretch. I have my 730 Far reds on a separate control from the 630s, 660s and 850s(IR). And Depending on the strain, I use the 630, 660, and 850 s, all day from the flip to 12/12 or I’ll start toward the end of the stretch If they are sativa that reach for the sky. With the 730s I start at the flip 5 minutes pre and post sunset. Then toward the end of stretch they are on all day With the other reds, plus the 5 post sunset.

Have you discerned any effect specific to 850nm? Will be testing some shortly

Hard to tell. Anything I could offer would be anecdotal. Mostly I threw them in there for leaf temp. I feel like I’m getting an effect from the 730s at sunset. I grew some sativas last run and they harvested very close to the breeders time schedule. So I feel like I shaved a week or two off. I kept them at 12/12 and was down to 10/14 by the end. Some guys bump up the daylight hours with the 730s at sunset. Haven’t tried that. Maybe this run. I also added Acadia 14% UVB so there were lots of variables last time.

Anything morphological? Stretch? Budstructure?

sounds very reasonable, and is a very interesting setup. how much power do you give to the 850? can you measure an increase in leaf surface temps when these are on?

was just gona ask the same thing, how many watts of 850nm do you have per sq/ft and have you measured leaf temps with and without?.

The reds definitely cause stretching and larger leaves. I have another channel that is UVA up to 465 blue that causes smaller leaves and shorter plants. At high power it can cause problems light stress and bud bleaching on some strains.
I was refering to any morphological chhanges due to IR 850? We are trying roughly 70w over 2m2.
