bud on the bottom ready before the top??

so yeah, as the title says... the buds on the bottom of my plants look done... but ive read that the crowns are supposed to be ready first? i don't get it... should i crop the buds at the bottm and leave the tops for a bit? all hairs are red, on some of the bottom buds... and i can tell with my eyes that the trichs on the leaves are starting to turn amber... and i do not want couchlock.

You have superman eyes? Cuz trichs are tiny man...like super tiny...there is a reason why people use at least a 30x magnifier to look at them...You looking at the trichs with lights on in the room I take it? If you are using a light that gives off that yellow/orange/red hue, it will fux with your eyes...if you want to take a sample off and take it out into a normally lit room and look at it through a proper magnifier that will tell you whats going on ;)

oh hahaha sorry was just going through the "new posts", didn't look at the catagory... <-- retard..

but still...unless you've got bionic eyes...i wouldn't trust em...i know i dont trust mine :D

even in my indoor grow under an hps you can see amber trichs on the leaves with your naked eye all day...if there is enough of them that is...and usually theres alot when you can see them without a magnifier...i pull mine when i can see amber without a magnifier...and yes the tops do normally finish first, but whos to say man...every strain has a certain uniqness about it, even the same strain may be shorter or taller then its other beaner sisster next to it...if the bottoms are ready, and the tops arent then chop the bottom nuggs and leave the top. IMO it is unusual for the bottoms to finish first, so i would use a magnifier in this case...unless your positive then by all means hack away

lol i have good vision dude. i can focus on things easily... i mean how could people tell when weed was done before microscopes came out? or that they even had the idea that thats how you know when its ready. i know the time is coming up soon so i look at them every day. and just look for differences. if you look at leaves n shit at a certain angle you can see that there is an amber tinge to them. and amber means the thc is starting to degrade right? i dont want couch lock... i get headaches from that shit when i burn too much lol.

oh an p.s. about the microscope. im a broke ass and have better things to spend my money on, like weed. and cigarettes and booze lol. gotta have something to smoke while i wait...even though i been pinching buds here an there ;D lol

my plants are a perfect example of that, i have one tall skinny one, and one thats short that branched off into two crowns... i love that so much seeing as i started off with three plants and one was male. i think i might just take the buds that look really ready. but should i wait till night time? i heard its best to keep ur plants in a dark place for 24 hours before choppin

Like you, I'm pretty sure I can see what's clear/milky/amber with my naked eye too. I'm positive of it. Still though, when I use a microscope I can see for certain and in amazing detail, rather than just have hunch that I can't get a second opinion on because no one I know can see well enough. A microscope is definitely a worthwhile investment, especially for like $10. Take two cigarettes out of the next 10 packs and set em aside, then buy a scope with the $10 saved hahaha.

To answer your question though (I know it was rhetorical, but whatever) I'd imagine people just cut their plants on the hunch they were done. That, and the old "wait til all the hairs recede" idea, but that's a recipe for couchlock if you ask me.

you can tell weed is done with the naked eye, but it's ridiculously hard to see amber trichs, you will mis 90% of them, EVEN if you have hella good vision..... I have 20/13 vision, that is 7 feet better than normal, and I STILL can't see the ambers. when I pull out my home made scope I see shitloads of them though.

now heres how you tell when weed is done without a scope :::

first read this and look at the pics

https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/28072-harvest-time-tutorial.html#post287475

some details to this....

when the buds are done around 50% of the trichs on the BUD LEAVES have turned amber (when you look at the buds in the sunlight, if the leaves have that 50% ambering going on, you will see a golden glow to it...), while the buds themselves have 100% opaque (white ) trichs, not clear. you do not wait till the buds amber up.

all the hairs have turned (99%, if you see one here and there don't trip...) the sugar leaves feel crisp to the touch, not soft...

between that and the pics in that thread you should be able to determine if your plant is done.

thanks poplars, big ups for the info. ive looked at that thread before. and its what ive been goin by. but ur info definitely helps. i chopped off only the buds with crisp sugar leaves. i got 7 of em :) im gonna dry and cure these guys properly. i got em in a little box thats opened a crack next to a floor vent to blow some fresh air in there. they're hangin on a skinny wire.
