Bud like this?

Can someone here please tell me how in the hell do you get your bud to look like this after it's cured? This is a pic I pulled off of craigslist in the mmj section, so it's not mine.

The bud looks all tight and drawn in to itself, no hairs stickin out or anything. And they look rock hard.

grow some GDP or other dense nug strain, and while it is only halfway to three quarters through its drying period, pack it tightly into a jar or bag.

pull it back out and let it finish drying and hope no one notices your fuck up.

Been there done that brotha and it never looks like that...ever. It's weird man, during flower my buds feel very dense and hard, but after drying they get fluffy, not airy but fluffy.

all varies depending on strain for me. but it shouldn't look like that pic unless it sits in a pile for too long.

I've had some come out rock hard and compacted but as you mentioned, it's from jarring too quickly and sweating, re-drying, then back in a jar.. re-drying... it's basically a fuck up.

I've gotten better at drying now and the buds come out looking like diamond-covered twins of their former selves... just smaller, lol. They are still solid and not airy, just not miniature snowy bricks.

yokel, a fuck up? every time I harvest and cure my buds always looks condensed and tight nugs. i highly doubt its a fuck up. its strain dependent for the most part, then trimming and curing finishes them all off. these pics are after a full dry, burping jars down the a stable 55% r/h, and 1 month cure in mason jars.

That isn't even close to the denseness I was referring to. Hang on... I still have like a 1/4 of that bud... I'll show you a rock hard nug.

my nugs are dense. its hsrd to judge the density of an item by a photo, unless you have magical powers to squeeze the bud thru your puter. if you have that software, please email me a copy as there are some porn stars asses id really like to grab. lol

I can see your calyx's sticking off the bud in 2 of the photos. That alone tells me you didn't fuck it up like I did.

Seems when you jar too early and they sweat too hard, the bud becomes overly wet and the calyx's will literally lay down on top of each other and then dry into a brick. Your first pic looks close to what happened to mine.

Like I said, I will post some pics from the first buds it happened to. Just waiting for the Mrs to get home with the phone/camera.

And no reason to be a smart-ass about your buds. Actually, yes, you can tell a lot from a photo.

Yep, I say it was vacuum sealed, it can also be a fuck up like yokel says, but this one looks like a vacuum seal for sure.. or someone playing with the weed too much when its drying. Demon Trich's pics are the way it is suppose to look before vacuum sealing it.

I dunno about all that "it must be packed" thinking, I know the local dispensary near me has a fucking KILLER Cherry Pie Kush, and its got nugs like that. Solid, dense, break a chunk off, grind up a bowl, open the grinder, and a joint worth falls out.... Sticky but not wet, smells great, awesome high...

I say its all about finding the right genetics, lighting, and temperature.

well my local dispensary has no issues with my buds when I donate to them. they call it the "Cali trim". none of the leafy untrimmed garbage from my grow, only top quality trimmed nuggets from top quality strains.

from my searching, vacuum sealing is only good for the long term storage (6+months). otherwise a proper cure and leaving the jar sealed up to 6mo is ideal. mine never make it past 2.5 months (this is my personal nugs, not my patients nugs. those last about 2 months).

and I have every right to be a smart ass about my nugs. its like telling a Ferrari owner his car looks like a pinto.

Dispensaries buy vacuum sealed product too, not all of it will be like that obviously but, yes there are many factors that come in to play here essentially.
