It has several names, Back Budding, Fimming during Flower, Bud BackBuilding, many more I’m sure.
The buds in the picture look in the exact same stage of ripeness. It would take a couple weeks to grow after chopping off the top no?
Exactly, the top was trimmed earlier in flower and this was the final result. I wasn’t expecting this as I’ve not used the method before so I didn’t take before and after pictures.
I have noticed that it’s not normally what results from others doing this. The only thing I can think of is I had to trim the top and a bit on each side at a slight angle due to a rookie mistake with the light too close. It probably is a fluke but I figured it’s worth sharing.I've tried that on many buds and half a dozen strains and that is not what usually happens.The buds just grow rounder instead of pointy which is why commercial growers use this technique so the buds go thru the trimming machines easier and there is less loss of bud as trim.
That's either a fluke of nature or you got some magic in those fingers and should hire yourself out to the big boys for big cash!
Both pictures look exactly the same stage in flower though? You’re telling me the first picture is the exact same bud as the second picture but weeks later?
Nope,one picture is of a standard size (non-trimmed) flower as seen throughout the grow and the other is the line one that was cut. The pictures were taken at the same time and was shown for comparison only. I didn’t do before and after as I wasn’t expecting this as I’ve never tried back building before but I do it now and actually just cut about 5 flower tops this morning on my current scrog.
FIM was a fluke too but works well when the cuts are carefully done so maybe you need to try more bud cuts in different ways to figure out how to get consistent results. Might not make you rich but should make you famous.
I’m pretty sure instead of just cutting the top flush I also cut it on both sides a little bit on each side where the extra side buds grew. I’m going to try it again on my next grow. My current grow is a high CBD grow low THC and actually labeled a hemp strain so it’s not going to have the buds like the Crop King Dutch Treat did.FIM was a fluke too but works well when the cuts are carefully done so maybe you need to try more bud cuts in different ways to figure out how to get consistent results.
