Good call! Told Ray on his site that I thought it was either mineral salts ( splasher problem) or possible a little mold/algea from not covering the net pots. Ray, are the roots in the water yet? If so, I'd watch how you move that RW block. Wouldn't want to break a root off totally. Partially is ok because it will grow back and just look pissed for a day or two. You know how it is with women when you mess with them in ways they don't like! I become a sweet talkin' MF when that happens! LOL! For root problems I highly recommend Hygrozyme. Really keeps the res clean by converting all the dead junk to nutes. I wonder if the will work on the wife? I can see it now, "Man poisons Wife with Plant Food!" I get to be one silly SOB when baked! Especially this last batch! OMFG!

It's amazing how fast the plants will say "hey, back off those nutes!"

I didn't enjoy drill that hole in my floor, but now that it's there, it's a great source for fresh air. I'll probably run an exhaust vent through my roof next winter. This way I'll bring in fresh air and blow everything outside.

peace!!
Hey BB.. what do u mean drilling a hole in ur floor? Which floor is it it? I live in the basement and i am using a closet and i need a way to vent too or else i'd hv to leave a closet door open. I dont mind doing that but then if it the smell gets bad, i'd have to get a carbon scrubber and by leavin the door open my grow room area changes from a little closet to the whole area and id hv to get a diesel size filter. I'd rather do find a way to vent, i cant drill a hole in the ceiling tho because im in basement and its not attic above.

I have a single story ranch style house with a crawl space underneath. I drilled through the floor coming out under the house.

You live in the basement. Are you renting or living with family?

How many sides(front, left, right) of the closet are exposed? My thinking is that you could exhaust through a scrubber from one side of the closet and bring air into the closet for another/other side???

Or could you exhaust/vent via a window through a scrubber?

Being in a basement, you should have cooler summer temps, which will be a plus. Be sure to spray inside & outside of the closet with a good pesticide and kill any mold.

What type of lights are you going to use?

I'm sure others will give you their advice.

ps Are you in Massa? I grew up there.

Hey BB, thanks for the reply. Everyone here is so helpful. Im new to this, and just joined recently. Was on Roseman's oficial thread but i realized i was derailing it so i came in here instead. Ive been talking to MC alot already and since i read your post i was interested in this hole you resolved to.

Basically im in the basement, this is not MY house, but it is my family's house. It is also not a house, it is more like a 4 floor building where each floor is its own apartment.

As far as my closet, its one of the closets in my bedroom, in my basement. The way my basement works is i hv a huge living room area, kitchen etc.. then my bedroom. So this closet is inside a room. As far as ur comment on summertime, that is actualy what has me sweatin right now... normally in the summer even tho im in basement it already gets hot. I dont know what to do. The way my bedroom closet works, the OPPOSITE side of the backwall of the closet is actualy the living room (meaning living room is on other side). So i dunno if i should vent that way? but im guessing not.

I just wanted to see what you did is all, ive been hearing so much stuff lately and i wanted to be open to anything. Im not especially great with handiwork though :(. For now i think i am leaning on getting this $109 grow tent on ebay it is 4x4x8 (actualy a great deal when looking at other prices and sizes). And then with that, i will run a fan in and fan out i guess?

btw my operation right now is im going to use 3 CFL 105w bulbs, 5000k vegging ones. Im planning on 2 bubblers, but not sure if i want a drip. Just to clarify , is it that drip is when the waterpump is there too to mist? and so bubblers are just DWC's, aka with air pump/air rocks?

Ive got 3 lamp housings from HD to house the 3 cfl's, hope it does the job. But ya i think im leaining on the tent it will make everything a bit easier. My closet although suffice, will take some work and mylaring etc. Plus closet is only 4x2 x5.5 height.

And thanks for the pesticide tip i didn't even read about that so i wouldn't hv done so!
Any tips would be helpful, i think i'll start my own grow thread shortly so i dont keep hijacking threads!

I removed the buds from the water curing jug directly onto cotton towels. After allowing them to drain for a couple of minutes, I put them into the dehydrator. Small buds/pieces on the bottom rack and largest on the top rack(heat rises). After one hour I checked all of the buds and the smallest ones were almost read. After another 20 minutes, I took all of the buds from the lower rack. They were perfectly dried!!

I then got out Bluey and fired up a piece. There was a slight taste, but nothing notable. The bud burned clean with a white ash. The did exhale a decent amount of smoke. And the smell was much, much less!!!

I only felt a little buzz(nothing to write home about) right after smoking and thought, "Oh shit! Did I screw up my buds?" Then as time goes on, so does the buzz. As I'm writing this, I'm really stoned! It's a great head high with energy behind it. So taking the tops when the trics are mostly cloudy does indeed give you a nice head high. The other plant tops are now mostly cloudy(an UP high) and ready to harvest. The lower buds on the plants will be 50% cloudy/amber(nightly sleep) and 70% amber 30%cloudy(when pain is too high).

So needless to say I'll be water curing from now on. It's clean, fast & simple.

Damn I'm stoned!!!!!

Oh yea, the buds are smaller & lighter and the bag appeal isn't the greatest. I took a close look(I'm stoned) and the buds look like they've been dehydrated. Not too bad though.
But the punch that's behind these buds is perfect! I'm totally OK how everything turned out. It meets my needs!!

It's been 2 hours and a 2 mile walk since I burned and I still have a nice head high

Once I came down from the 1st buzzzzzzz, I looked a little closer at the yield and wanted to share these thoughts:

It took 1 1/2 hrs for the small buds to dry, 2 1/4 hrs for medium size and 3 hrs for the larger buds using this dehydrator.

I found 3 seeds(these tops are from the plant that had the hermie branch)

Here are some numbers:

Wet bud to air dried buds loose 75% of their weight
Wet bud to water cure buds loose 85% of their weight or 10% less.

Then I looked at the bud weight % difference between the two methods.

100 grams wet = 25 grams air dried
100 grams wet = 15 grams water cured & dehydrated

The air dried weighs 10 grams more or 40% more. This is too big of a percentage difference for me. This is what I love about being a newbie grower, I'm floating through the learning curve. My game plan now is to water cure enough buds to last me while I'm air drying & curing the majority of the pot because it's sure nice to have smokable buds once the trics are ready

I had 74 grams wet and got 11 grams dried. I would of got 18 grams air dried and that's 7 grams more or 39%.

Yes, the water cure method works & it works great! Fast, clean & simple with a great buzz
but it's too large of a weight percentage difference between the two method.

Peace!!!

Glad the hear the details about the difference and your experiamentation method. Your findings are interesting to say the least. That is what they call creeper bud. Starts out slow and then, whamo!, your really stoned. Good to mix and match the different kind and maturity levels. I don't think you'll get so burned out smoking the same weed that way. I also mix up my method of intake. Bongs, different kinds of pipes and j's. Mix some with some hash oil I make out of the fan leaves and small stems for that extra special kick. It will be interesting comparing the water cured vs. the properly air cured for affect and length of buzz.

Chusett ~ I really don't know what to say or tell you. The basement is hot during the summer??? boy, that's a tough one.

Check out Kilobit's grow:

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/123878-ppp-kilobitssecondgrow-24.html

He's in the city and has had great success growing with CFL's in a small space. I'm sure he could give you better insight than myself.

Sorry bro!!!
Hey BB, thanks for the advice then. I'm looking at your drying/curing posts now and i actually didn't realize that people lost so much weight in the process. Anyway, my basement does get hot i think because its my own floor, where i can walk out to another room and then leave the house through front door, and i can also walk out via my own back door. So i think its not y our typical house basement where the cool air is trapped under.

Anyway i finally started my own grow thread too, if you hv any free time maybe you can check it out and possibly help me with some of the questoins.

Oh, so you're not surrounded by cement walls.

I asked what I could!!
