you're doing the exact grow im planning on doing next. same cabinet setup as well, except for my lighting i zip tied a power strip up top and bought 120v socket to light socket adapters and plugged them in up top and moved plant closer or further away, it works great. but what you have going is looking good. ill be watching.

You have a nice set up. Here is a suggestion. Instead of using an aquarium pH test kit, get one that was designed for hydroponics. I made that mistake too and my plants suffered because of it. Here is a fairly inexpensive one that works great.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GENERAL-HYDROPONICS-PH-UP-DOWN-TEST-CONTROL-KIT-8-oz-/180492155928?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Fertilizer_Soil_Amendments&hash=item2a062bbc18

I am using the same one. Other than that you have addressed all the problems. Move lights closer, paint the rez black to stop algae from growing. Good luck with your grow.

Peace and positive energy to you

thanks nailz....i think i need all the help i can get at this point.
and the positive energy right back at ya!!

yeah crazd I went getto on mine due to space...the box is from WallyWorld and only cost $30 and I'll be raising the plants towards the lights. If you haven't looked at LST (low stress training) I would do that soon...better yield for our boxes and creates a nice canopy for the CFLs. (or so I've read)

good luck!!!

Same place I bought mine haha. but that box is perfect if you plan on only doing one or two at a time and use the box for veg, flower, and drying. And yeah i've been doing lst and got it down to a good fit in the box but i topped it and let it grow vertically too long so when i went to tie it down i split the main stem down the center a few cm. it recovered but not sure how it affected the growth, if any at all. but im really surprised how level the tops have been staying. also for my next grow i was thinking of doing a scrog in there. i made a screen out of the extra shelf i had. the pic is what it looks like about a week ago

Ok so it's been a while. My last ladies passed away due to my lack of patience. So a few weeks ago I germ'd a few seeds from a bag of killer smoke. One came up strong and made a nice root ball in just a week. So it made the move to the bubbler. It was in shock for about 4-5 days then I stated seeing new growth and BLAM it took off. Only 2 weeks old and looking good...not sure of sex yet. There is some purple on the thicker newer branches....I have always thought purple is good. But if I'm wrong please let me know

I also went out and purchased a temp/hum meter...is a must I think. . Running 18/6 right now with the plant around 8" away. Got rid of the reptile light and got a vanity light with 3 outlets.....put 2 42w CFL's in each port for a total of 15,600 lumens ( like crazd did...oh and thanks again for the idea...really worked out ) I will move the plant closer and closer to avoid burn but it is doing so well right now I'm a little trigger shy to change much after my past failures. Using Fox Farm Big Grow and a few drops of Superthrive in a 2 gallon res and have a weak Superthrive solution in my spritz bottle.

I will begin LST this weekend to get as much light coverage as possible and its a small grow box.

Great job so far!

Just some things to point out, the heat caused by the lights will rise to the top. By having that fan placed there.. you are really just blowing hot air at your plants, which explains the high temperatures in your box.

If this is possible, place the fan where you blue water bottle is so its blowing up above the plant to prevent heat from the lights. It would be also extremely helpful if you made an exhaust hole in the top as well.

I have just added 4 23w 6,500K lights to the box....2 on either side of the plant to get more coverage. Started LST Saturday and it has already curved up and grown another 2 inches. I plan on topping it tonight...i need short and stalky with lots of buds sites, not tall and skinny with just a few.

I was wondering...any advice about mixing 2,700K with 6,500K during vegging? Been digging in the forum and only find a few references...but it sounds OK.

The plant is surrounded by light and is now sitting within 2" of CFLs.

Well I topped it off this morning....took some pics last night. Damn I hope this thing is a chica! I also cleared the largest of the fan leaves...there is alot of bushy growth underneath that needed some light.
I'm using dual spectrum lighting for veg the next 2 weeks then I will start flowering. Ton of growth in the past 5 days...and it looks pretty healthy. Been running nutes at 75% so I think I will go 100% with water change this weekend.
Roots look a little brown (peroxide/h20 mix should help) so I will fix this weekend also...or get high tonight and try.

I understand my light could be a little closer but...I'm an engineer so my ego tells me to design and build a light fixture system that completely flexible....the stoner in me says nah play Wii with your girlfriend.

Thanks 'endofwed' , the fan is now on the side of the bubbler and blowing up and across the cabinet....which stabilized my heat issues. seems to be staying in mid to upper 70'2 now. I would put a heat vent on top but I think my exhaust fan is too powerful and it would just end up acting as an intake. the reposition of the fan worked great.

Well I did a res change out and put a little peroxide in this time....even tho my roots looked alot better. Did my 2nd LST tie off and made a diagram of the plan...have to keep this plant around 5" tall. It just amazes me how fast this will go bye.... I catch myself just sitting in front of the box staring at it....little drool running down my chin. Hope it's a girl....germ'd a few more seeds just in case.

Pic 1 is before res change last night......Pic 2 is of the roots.......Pic 3 is this morning (note the massive growth over night in the bushy area)

Ok it's been a few weeks...was in Hawaii for a week. The thing has really started to bush out so Saturday I started my 12/12 with flowering nutes. Had some massive overnight growth....that first 12 hours of dark did alot and i was able to do some more LST on Sunday morning. The plant is completely green...no signs of nute burn and she is it is really starting to stink. Gonna make the carbon scrubber tonight. So that's about 4 weeks of veg and I hope to sex this thing soon. If not I have some seeds from some really nice sativa that just came thru town.

I am using a cocktail of GH Flora Bloom/Gro, Superthrive, Hydrogen-peroxide and the plant seems to love it.

I would like to add: Anyone use this yet??????
FloraNectar™ PineappleRush

Looks good, good luck with the grow.
Thanks tony.

I have a quick update. Did a res change last night...had a real heat issue after my first attempt at a carbon scrubber. Made a new one last night and issue is fixed. Germ'd some seeds from a nice bag and added a little one to the res...he/she will go straight to 12/12 as an experiment.
Can't sex the big one yet hopefully within a week or so. Green and growing daily.

Well my traveling caught up to me. Went out of town for 4 days and when I got back res was empty and my lady (yes confirmed) was hurting bad. Alot of dried up leaves and for some reason my box was at around 98 deg....just cooked her for a solid day.
I cleaned off most of the foliage that I don't think will recover and put straight H20 in the res no nutes. She looked a little better this morning but now I'm worried about the bud sites. They managed to stay very green (I assume they grabbed all the water they could from the fan leaves) but now there aren't many fan leaves left for food later.

Any suggestions on helping her recover would be great!!!!!!!

Too much root damage..she died over the weekend.....sniff sniff.

I went out a picked up a bigger res and plan to start over right away. Learned alot so far and need to modify my smaller box to handle it's heat issues.

I will actually try a grow journal next time.

Well I spoke too soon. Thats one tough plant. Went to pull it all out last night and the bud sites were green and there were 6-7 new sites. Gonna play this one out. She looks pretty scary all naked and shit....almost looks like i lolly popped the whole plant. I would post pics but frankly I'm not too proud of my attempts so far. Hyrdo isn't as easy as you might think.

Took a cutting a few days ago and it seems to be rooting (new leaves on top) so she will make it to the new res. Picked up a 5 gallon res to replace my 2 gallon. Makes a big difference once she starts drinking a gallon every other day.

Will keep this journal alive until I see what she does.

Do you guys think I will actually get any bud?
