Get the biggest pump you can afford.....trust me, that single bucket is gonna turn into two, maby three! Then you can run 2 buckets w one pump.... LOL Also dont forget to drill a "drain/fill hole in the top. Good luck...and I find that the round airstones work better than the flat ones.....get a splitter and put two or three round ones in there rather than one big one that wont lay flat....fishing weights will hold them in plce. hi guys i have question i know that ph have to be betwen 5.5 6.5 but i grow in 5 gal. bucket i can`t keep ph more than 5.0 without bufering. ph down and up works only when water is fresh. so that means 2 days max. other ways i have to por shit load of ph up in to it. and that is not good for the plant. so what i`am doing is changing gal. of nutes a day its only way to keep the ph kind balance. byt its still 5.0 5.5. is that big deal?? or that have to be exzact on 6.2 or 6.0 i don`t know.

ok, i baught a 20 gallon pump, with the same airstones as the guy who origionally made it. also i baught the net pot that fits over the bucket like a lid. here are some pics..... ok, i have a 3" rockwool cube, and i got hydroton. how do i go about starting growing? i have seeds only. do i soak the rockwool? and do i sprout the seed in a towel, then transplant into the cube? do i water the cube by hand, until roots appear, or keep the water level to the bottom of the cube until roots appear. thanks.

i put my seed in the rockwool and filled the water in the bucket so the net pot is halfway submerged, then i made sure to keep it wet and put a cfl light on is about 2 inches away 24 hours a day until i see it sprout. people are going to say different things but that is what worked for me.:joint:

half way? ok...well where was the rockwool compared to the water level? i am soaking 1 3" cube in 5.5ph tap water right now. suppose i will do it for at least tommorow night. what else do i do, never been down this path b4.

:joint:you want to fill you bucket all the way up so when the lid is on the netpot is sitting halfway in the water until you spot roots, then drop it so the water is right below netpot, this causes the roots to search for water like if they were in soil.also if you use tap water make sure it sits out for at least 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate out otherwise it can cause problems. also no nutes until 3 weeks and keep lights within about 2-4 inches from top of plant

great response, but, if i place water level half way up net pot, how deep do i place my cube? my tap water has little to no chlorine, but thatnks. and i have a 400 hps, 2-4 inches seems extremely close?

my understanding is that you want the water right at the bottom of the netpot to start with. if you submerge it in the water you could drown your seedlings. the air bubbles cause enough moisture to keep the rockwool and hydroton moist. rockwool holds moisture very well. this is just what I got from doing research not actuall experience. you might want to read up on it a little more. I could be right but I could be wrong so dont quote me on this. once you see roots you can let the water level drop an inch or two below the pots. hope this helps. I plan on starting my bubbleponics setup soon. cant wait.

plastic bag huh? ok, will try. how long do you keep them in the window after they sprout? and what do you do with them.
