Brown roots or build up. What is this and how to fix?

Set up: 7 gallon Current Culture tub/bucket. Standard 2 hose air pump. Net pot with small Grodan cubes on bottom and on sides of the Grodan block. No light leaks in tub and water temp is always below 70 and above 60 (62-67).

Nutrients: Was using Advanced Nutrients original formula Micro Grow Bloom, Cal-Mag+, Protekt Silica, B-52, SeaGreen Hydro, (few other additives here and there) - But recently switched to AN Jungle Juice A&B formula w/ the silica and cal-mag, no more B-52, SeaGreen and any other additives (Switched nutes to see if would help with root problem or the build up)

Since the beginning I've been having this problem you see in the pictures. There's this type of brown gunk or build up on my roots, the stuff rinses off when sprayed down with water, but still leaves the roots stained and not clean white.

I thought it was maybe from the additives leaving a salt/gunk build up, so I cut all additives and used only MGB, Silica, & Cal-Mag. After dropping the additives I noticed the gunk/build up coming back so I changed base nutrients to Jungle Juice, I thought I read somewhere the MGB formula was an organic formula which left build ups on other growers roots and side of buckets (reason why I dropped the additives in the beginning).

So I did a lot of experimenting with my nutrients, using this product and removing this product thinking it was from a certain product. But I'm not really seeing any improvements. I just did a rez change about a day or 2 ago using only Jungle Juice, Cal-Mag+, and Protekt Silica. I scrub good and do a root rinse with every rez change (which happens every 7-14 days). I recently picked up some Cannazym to help breakdown dead root material, but not really noticing any difference with it.

Seems like anything I do doesn't work. Can the Jungle Juice leave any type of build up on roots? Anyone ever experience the issue with those nutes?

I'm waiting for black friday to come so I can go drop $100(40% off) or so on nutrients to stock back up and pick up a few products for a tea recipe I read for beneficial microbes.

By looking at the pictures and what you've read, could any of you diagnose what my problem is? Is it a root slime? What can I do?

Also, what is a great nutrient line to use for DWC that doesn't leave any type of build up anywhere in tub/bucket? (Would like to try em out to see if nute build up is even the issue here)

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED
Thank you!

Root rot? maybe? pics would help...

But yeah like a gazzion threads on the nefarious type of rot...I hate to say this (cuz when people say "Search" its kinda a put off) but you might wanna do a search using Heisenberg + EWC tea OR Fatman + bleach ...

yeah I know some will say bleach is poison blah blah blah but, screw that, its not systemic and you can also die from too much milk and water...
and others will say EWC is too much bother ....

Choose one... I'm betting either method works (bleach & Consan 20 certainly do IMPE)

BTW skip the H2O2 and other over priced Hydroponically marketed "chlorinators" (unnecessary air quotes on purpose)

Every time I try to edit the post to fix the photos it just comes up with a blank page.. Disappointing... Let me try with this post;

I'd bet if you got 5 replies, you are gonna get about 5 different answers here: Bennies, bleach, zone, peroxide, Great white, enzymes, blah blah blah...

my take: I think a LOT of readers/poster just parrot shit or confuse the different types of rot (pyth vs brown snot) ....thats why some methods work better than others .... IME I've killed rot before and it hasn't returned for yrs....OTOH currently I'm fighting some persistent crap that laughs at bleach & Consan 20....

NTM I've read tons of BS and mis info about the asst "poisons" and residues from bleach and even a long thread where the poster actually confiused H2O2 with peroxide and claimed one was good and the other bad...

from the pics I'm thinking plain ole pyth....

I dunno; its totally possible whatever myself or someone suggest might work immediately or totally fail: lots of variables....

Have you removed the bad roots?

after that I'd start with sterlization of everything using H2O2 bleach or physan/consan 20 or even plain ole potassium permanganate (all have different benefits, risk & caveats)....

after that take your pick of methods (in order of cost/simplicity)

- Heisenberg tea
- Bleach/Physan
- ole school H2O2/enzymes
- Great white, Root Excel

edited to add: I only have experience sterilizing everything, then using enzymes...but I'm not endorsing anything, just relaying personal experience...personally I'm gonna give the tea a shot next

When I rinse the roots off, most of the gunk comes off but the roots are still stained, they aren't completely white as they should look when healthy.

This is what I'm going to try and Johnny, or other posters, let me know if I have this right;

I will scrub my tub/bucket with bleach, change out to new air stones and new air hoses.
Rinse off and remove dead/bad roots.
Soak the roots and Grodan block & cubes in a water and H2O2 solution (Or how should I soak the roots & grow media? Not with bleach right? What product should I soak in, peroxide/h2o2 correct?)
Add nutes to rez with addition of the heisenberg tea.

Does this sound right and in the correct order?
