Broke one of my main stems - will this work?

Today when repositioning some LST clips I got a little aggressive and ended up damaging my main stems where she had been topped.
The damage wasn't too bad, but if her branches were heavier it would have snapped off.

Unable to locate any tape, I Gerry rigged a ziptie to secure the plant.

I can't see where it's snapped, but wrapping it up in tape should help. Just make sure you don't knock it again

If it is mending you will know in a day or 2, if it is, it will be stronger than ever in a week.

I’ve used duct tape, masking tape and when those weren’t available, a regular bandaid works. Not a big deal…easily fixed.

Twist the branches between the nodes to make them more pliable when training. It will strengthen the stem after a few days as a bonus.

When I say twist I mean hold the branch at two neighboring nodes, and turn each side in the opposite direction til you hear an internal snap. Don’t be too aggressive.

Oh yeah, she is in flower now!
I want to say it took a couple weeks, but the zip tie allowed her to heal!

I'll opine that this type split won't faze her. I had one split from the first top side almost down to the soil with no noticeable I'll effect. In my case it was from failing to relieve tie wire tension as the main stalk grew vertical. Wound up wrapping with medical tape and a small hose clamp .

I really don't know how the " clips" works. For 50yrs I've always used duct tape, it's never failed. After the stem has healed, it has blown the duct tape right off. Then that break would swell and become even stronger. Once I broke the main stem on a very mature main stem plant's main stem. I mean, I broke it in half, a 4ftplant .I went to move one night( outdoor plant)and like a stoned out dumb, ass, I'd' forgotten it was tied down for more light exposure. Get the tape if your unsure about it. You'll be fine. We stoners pull that shit all the time.
