So finally its day 30 of flower and things are just going crazy in that server rack, if someone came here and opened it, they would be like WTF!?

I taped another flower up to the main bud, just to pull it in closer to the light, I can not even touch a stem with out being like covered in resin, my hole arm smells like oranges and pine nuts after just moving a few things around, it is just covering everything.

So the plant under the bluer (5000K) light seems very healthy just not as tall and not blooming as quick, the reddish light (2700K) seems to be getting the other two to grow much taller stems and their flowers are expanding but the smaller one (Indie) has just as many flowers on her stems, they are as big, or a little bigger and much closer together, she has the largest pistils by far... This could get interesting in a couple more weeks :)

So I got some more pictures, the main flowers seem now to be bulking up nicely. White hairs are now turning orange and shriveling up a little.

Pico, I am looking at either getting 4 x Vero 29 or 4 x CXA3070 made by Cree. What I am wondering is if I need 4 total or can I live with two. I am forgoing a 600w HPS. I do not know enough about LED tech to make this kind of decision. I am only lighting a 6x6x7 area. Thoughts and or suggestions?

Hey Greenco, I would go with the Bridgelux Vero 29, the packaging is much better and will save you time and money in the long run, the Cree's are I think about $10 or so cheaper per LED, but you have to ad the mounting bracket into it and a few other things.

You are going to be getting about 40,000 Lumens from the 4 LEDs, a 600 watt HPS spit out about 90,000 with optimum setup. With the LEDs almost all the DC Flux or Lumens are in the beam angle already (100-130 degrees), with a HPS a lot more then half of the light needs to be reflected back into your beam, that's why vertical growing with HPS is almost impossible to beat, you are using 360 degrees of the light.

Anyway, I would imagine you would use the 2700K Vero 29s, the ones with 80 CRI and 9380 typical Lumens. You could possible add one extra 5000K a little above everything to keep the plants shorter.

Its really hard to say, but if you wanted to do a run with just two of the 2700K, 80 CRI LEDs, you might be surprised, they have a much much higher CRI then the HPS bulbs, lots of people including the film and photography industry are having a hard time adopting LED lighting. They say, even using LED lights with high CRI will produce prints way outside the color parameters they wanted to get. I think the main problem they are having, as well as growers using LED lights, is the multiple point sources of the actual light. People make these LED lights for growing, with 100s of little LEDs, I think all the individual light sources mingling with each other is fuking it all up. Its the same sort of thing you see in pro sound, those huge line arrays they use at large venues have to be finally tuned, so all the speakers are working together, or you would have large areas in the crowd where it would be either, too loud, not loud enough or just sound like mud.

How did you want to drive these babys?

Still debating. I am thinking of dropping down to two like you. Keeping my light investment low incase the results are sub par. Running 5x5 scrog nets, would two give adequate coverage?

As for driving them...almost the same as you. Just 15 amps less to play with. I have an HP 6274B. 0-60v / 0-15a.

Would love to try 1 Vero 29 5k w/ CRI 70 and surround it with 4 Vero 29 2.7k w/ CRI 90. Don't want to spend that much on a test run sadly.

Do you think CRI of 90 would be beneficial? I could grab two now and be half way their on a second run. Or would the drop in lumen not be worth it?

I think you should have them pretty high up, even from the start. I think you would have to use all the 7 feet for height in the end, but it should be OK. Reflectors will be tempting but I wouldn't really add much, just use like a reflective tent or white paint on the walls.

Like the power supply you got there, the old school HPs are monsters, very challenging to find even cheaper old stuff for the voltage we need to drive these. Do you know much about the remote sensing taps on the back of these things?

I'm not sold on 'CRI'.

If I can get a white with a big ole spike in red, I'd take that over 100CRI white any day...

I think the main thing to take away from CRI is that if it's too low you risk on not running a true full spectrum.

Picked the HP up in a blind lot. It was filled with a bunch of old school electronic equipment. It was one of the few pieces that did not have water damage. I'll pull out the multimeter and do some test with it to make sure I am getting the correct output. I unfortunately know very little about the HP. I would love to learn more about the remote sensing taps. Do you use them?

Two it is then. I can always add more each new run. I like the idea of adding some cool CLFs.

So I got some more pictures in, moved a few of the main buds around, one bud was directly under the 2700K light and just started to bleach a little bit. It was about 5 inches away;

I will be starting the flushing process now I think, I will stop the nutes but with the same amount of water I am giving them now. After 2 weeks I will give one last hit for 2 days, then start increasing the amount of water slowly washing the soil clean.

Moving the buds around you can feel how dense they are, and it feels like they are just full of moisture. There is a thick layer of resin under the small leaves surrounding the buds, super think and sticky.

As for starting to flush. Personally I would give them some hefty feedings now for at least another week more like two or even 3 if you want to take the strain 9-10 weeks.

Weeks 6-7 is when they can really take the heavy nutes and put on some serious weight.

You really only need to give one big flush a week out, check your ppm of your runoff till it's minimum, then just regular water the final week.

Personally, I would feed those ladies at least till day 49, then flush a week or two if you want.

Not sure what strain they are or how long they recommend flowering, but 9 weeks is pretty average time, so if you feed till day 49, that would still give you 14 days of flush which is more than enough.
