What are the chatrooms you like to frequent?

My son keeps trying to get me on discord, he says it’s the future, a big step up from forums like this. I’m hesitant because I don’t know it, but I keep hearing great things about this nee way of communicating with peers and sharing experience. I’m gonna save this thread and ask him to help me set it up

I see it as just a way for breeders and smaller groups of people to control their communication environment. I see a lot of scamming going on as well as members that are banned here and other forums like pnwstrainhunter doing business like clone selling with known bad cuts diseased and pest infested. There's also good aspects like the direct breeder communication.

Yeah well I’m quite fond of lit farms and I seen they were giving away seeds to people that “joined” their discord channel (dunno if that’s the word hahah) that’s what got me talking to my son about it.

I joined their discord for that as well. There's quite a few breeder run discord servers that are good. Most of the scamming I've seen is on non breeder servers.

In terms of archiving and locating information that was posted while you were offline, Discord is horrible. Everything is one long conversation like yahoo chat. Searching is awful and is hugely dependent on the server’s retention settings.

But in terms of controlling a narrative, it’s perfect. Discord servers that are owned and moderated by seed makers/breeders and their d-riders can easily ensure that only positive info is shared.

While that IS true for many of them i've found a few I frequent where that is not the case. Instead they get testers for their gear on them and they want to hear all the bad so they know which strains are worth releasing.

What usable information does one get from interacting with some pollen chuckers on Discord?

If your goal is to try and get some free seeds then that's the place for you to be. Social media platforms like Discord are just glorified chat rooms.

You learn a lot actually, especially during the interview podcasts that are recorded on Discord. You get to ask breeders you may have grown seeds from direct questions at the end, and you can find out things like How they select their males, what projects they didn't release due to herms or other issues, Tips on growing their strains. There are numerous reasons for being in a "chat room" especially with the calibur of the breeders i posted above.

For example right now i'm talking to LemonHoko, TaraLeeLive, and a few others about breeding techniques and genetics.

You can have direct communication with professor p on dynastys discord and can ask him any questions you want about any of his strains. And it's organized into chats for all of their different strains. That discord is very useful for his products.

Faster communication on discord as well. If u have question for the breeder.

A bunch of jock riders trying to be best friends with someone selling them a product at a huge markup. Kinda like crackheads. I think the discords for seeds/clones/oils/products are much more tolerable. Most of these breeders are idiots and all of them are salespeople. Discord just gives them a platform they have greater control over. If you can't be troubled to create a message board or something I guess it's the next best thing lol

I'm old school. I prefer getting my info on forums/reddits because it's more segmented. I remember being younger and just loving absorbing as much stimulus as I could at once. Discord is like "here, read the last 2 days worth of gifs and the same 4 people bullshitting to catch up with the last actual decent conversation pieced between"

avoid it like the plague. It's just hookup culture for zoomers.

I'm on a few discords the only one I like.is the skunkhouse one seems pretty open and transparent to me, I had some germ problems on a pack of beans and the breeder got in touch straight away and offered to replace the pack for free and Give more freebies. Didn't delete my message or anything.

Some great servers for cuts especially. Got a LAPK(Suge Night), Chimera 3 (Beleaf) and others.
