branch cuttings with sphagnum moss??? anyone tried

Speaking to a very well respected horticulturalist a few weeks back, he informed me of how to take full branch cuttings, anyone tried this?

apparently you gently scrape away the bark around the base of any branch on your plant(right around leaving a ring of under flesh showing) place clonex around the area, wrap wet sphagnum moss around that then seal with clingfilm. roots will fill the moss and when seen through the clingfilm, the branch can be cut off and planted - even when in full bud. ideal for filling gaps in trays or avoiding overcrowding.

Going to try it tonight on a shit branch first:-P
