Brain tumors and Cannabis

Just found out my aunt had been diagnosed with inoperable brain tumors. Emergency biopsy completed today, results should be had later this week.

Any one in here have first hand experience related to CBD oil or other Cannabis options to treat/reduce size/increase quality of life specific to brain tumors as opposed to other forms of cancer?

If this is better posted elsewhere please let me know. I know most of the older and respected members drop in here and I figured this might be noticed quicker here than buried in a medical section.

Thanks in advance

I was answering winterwoman about a friend of hers but the reply will work here as well. I hope this helps.

Here ya go hun,

We have Sativex trials in the US right now. Here's the info on it. They have already done other studies.
http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT01812616

The problem for your Matt is the fact he doesn't have a pathology confirmation. It's also important to remember that Cannabis seems to work best with Glioblastoma Multiforme, not Astrocytoma or the others. Could they do a stereotactic biopsy? Even if they had to go in transphenoidally this could possibly help him gain access to the Sativex study.

Anyway I don't have enough specific information about him so I can't really give any type of opinion. Just suggest he discuss his options regarding this with his surgeon.

Good luck and bless you for backing your friend like this,
Annie

You're welcome, please post and update. I hope things turn out ok.
You and me both. Completely out of left field.

She's been having some memory issues the last few months and my uncle insisted they go to the Dr. Over the weekend.

Yesterday was an MRI and today they had her in surgery to see if they could remove any of the growths they identified on the frontal lobe.

Ended up only taking a few samples for biopsy purposes today. Should know more soon. Will Definetly post back with updates.

That was a big gamble, you got lucky...
Real talk

I was surprised the first post was legitimate. Was expecting penis graffiti.....but sometimes the universe gives you pass.

Plus I'm willing too deal with some penis knowing that some of our most knowledge members would be likely to see the post.

I figured the odds of getting a legit, researched, quality response would be better here than some of the other sections.

Like panning for gold :bigjoint:

Not good results from the biopsy. The research you posted was very helpful. She has decided to forego treatment and spend her remaining time with family.

We discussed alternative medicines (with her brother / my dad) and she felt as though it would cause too much familial distuption. She has 9 kids, and 7 of them are practicing LDS in salt lake, where she lives.

I'm still trying to get her to consider additional options but it seems unlikely. She is sleeping approx. 14 hours a day and is trying to be as aware and present as possible when awake.

Again, thank you for sharing the resources and hopefully someone else sees this thread in the future if they have the same questions.

I'm very sorry. But she made the choice she felt was best for her in the situation she is in. I wish you all well in dealing with the road to come.
