GROW BOX

BACKGROUND​

I germinated 3 seeds with the paper towel method for about 5 days. I was away while they were germinating so I had to wait to get back to plant them. The tap roots were several inches long when I planted them. The plants were planted on the night of October 4th. Their first light was on October 5th. I watered them while planting, but not so much that water was coming out of the bottom of the pots.​

DAY 2​

I'm wondering when to water again. The soil is dry up to a depth of about 2 inches. Below 2 inches, it feels VERY slightly damp. When should I water again?​

DAY 5​

I had one more germinated seed and decided it'd be a waste to throw it out so I planted it in a small cup on October 9th. The plants in the three large pots are 5 days old and the small one is only 2 days old. ​

The two you can see on the left here got out to a much better start than the third (on the top right). I noticed that the stem of the third was bent and very thin at the bottom when it started. I put some more soil over the stem and it seems to be doing a bit better now. ​

A closer look at the two that are doing the best right now. The stems seem pretty weak and thin. I have a fan blowing on them slightly and they're fluttering so that should help. I also spray them every day a bit with some water.​

I watered them thoroughly 3 days ago. The soil is pretty dry but I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning to water them again. I don't want to overwater them and have heard that dryness promotes root growth.​

DAY 10​

The plants in the large pots are now 10 days old. The plant in the cup is 7 days old. They are doing well. One of the large ones had a bit of root damage when I planted it so it took a little while to get going, but it seems fine now. I've been watering once every 3 days. I also spray the leaves a bit each morning with water. Also, I switch the positions of the plants each day so that they're on a cycle of being back to the same spot every 3 days.​

DAY 12​

I watered them today so I figured I might as well take some individual pictures while they were out.

DAY 16
​

The plants are doing well. I swear my CFLs have dimmed slightly. I exchanged one for a new CFL last week and they were both bright for a while. A couple days ago, I noticed one was a bit dimmer again. Today, they both look dimmer than they were at their peak. Oh well, I'm tired of returning them and the're still producing a good amount of light. I still haven't added any nutrients or fertilizer. I'm going to wait a little longer. I water them about every 4 days.

DAY 22
​

The plants are doing well. I finally transplanted the little on that was in a cup to another "pot." It's actually an upside-down shriner hat but it works for the job. The little one's roots were way constrained so it should start doing a lot better now. I'm probably leaving town for a couple weeks in about 8 weeks so I'm going to begin flowering this week. I have not added any nutrients yet but will start adding flowering nutrients soon. I redesigned my growbox a little so that I could have more room in there. I plan on beginning the flowering in the pots they're in right now. When I find the females, I will transplant them into larger pots.
