Details my friend. Do you have a timer? Was the timer working with other lights? Did you accidentally switch your timer to always on when switching lights?

CMH, LED, HPS .. it doesn't matter, they all come on when they are fed a current. The timer is the crux of your issue, not the light.

Make sure your timer is set properly. Also some lights can take time to power on fully especially when unplugged while running.

Most analog timers, some digital, can not be used with digital ballasts. Not sure your timer brand or type or if your using it as a trigger to a switch. there’s also switches on timers to enable the timer function or override it, in which case, it wouldn’t shut off.

Is your light blowing the timer? A hps wont work on your average timer it needs something that can handle the initial load when it turns on, guess your light would be the same.

All the timing process an heat are supposed to be used from the controller panel .it's a little technical for a guy who don't know. My last set up timer was a plug an grow ..nothin digital

You’re moaning about your timer programmer etc but correct me if I’m wrong here.

YOU HAVENT EVEN TOLD US WHICH ONE IT IS?

maybe if you tell us which one it is we may be able to help but up to now I can’t see which controller you’ve purchased.

you said your old one was a plug and grow. Which to me means you must have had a timer and contactor all rolled into one.

so from this I can also assume you are based in the U.K.

in the U.K in order for a timer to effectively switch on a HID setup of higher than 250w a contactor relay needs to be used.

I use a HORTICULTURAL LIGHTING CONTACTOR where one of the plugs has to go into the wall socket and one of the other plugs needs to be fitting into a timer.

if you don’t have them the correct way you’ll get either nothing or fully on.

so I ask again. Which controller have you bought?
