... Right. But the way you put it sounded like you believe there is 8% (or whatever) actual calcium in the product, but it's really x% of x amount of the RDI for x mineral. For calcium as mentioned 80 mg out of 21,000 mg means your molasses contains around 0.38% calcium. So the point is at the end of that basic math molasses really does have way less calcium than Calplex does (or CalMag). Calplex is 3%, which is the actual percentage because it is labeled as a fertilizer.

so you agree with me and then you argue the point. a little contridictive. it being a fertilizer or a food is irrelevant. its the percentage of what is in there. i don't know where you got 80 mg. if its 8% its 292 mg. i use it. it works. when i have had cal n mag problems i used that and it worked. its great for nutes, a catalyst, and a chelating agent, rub for ribs, and make some rum with it too. so ....... i can copy and paste shit to seem more intelligent too.

lol, no I don't agree with you but you just aren't getting it (you only pretend you are it seems). I explained where I got 80 mg: 80 milligrams is 8% of the recommended daily intake of calcium for humans, as a human (adult male) typically requires 1000 mg of calcium (per day). When you see "Calcium....8%" on foodstuffs that is what it means - 8% of the recommended 1000 mg intake - NOT 8% total calcium. Huge difference. Magnesium has a different RDI than calcium, which is around 400 mg. So when you see "Magnesium...8%" on food it means 8% of the [roughly] 400 mg recommended intake. When you realize this and look up the RDI's you can then calculate the ACTUAL percentage of the mineral for yourself.

its 8% of the human daily value intake not 8% of the substance. for example an 8 ounce serving of 2% milk has 30% Daily Value (for humans) of calcium. the recommended DV of calcium for humans is 1000 mg. so 30% of 1000 mg...300 mg. Then you figure the percentage of that to the mass of 8 ounces of milk (~240 g assuming its around the density of water) .1% Ca by mass.
so the percentages of nutrients by mass of plantation blackstrap molasses are as follows per 21 g: 1-0-3, 1% Ca, .2% Mg, .02% Fe, 50% Carbohydrates [(sucrose (30%), glucose (10%), fructose (10%)] if you want the DVs just run a search on the name of the molasses above.

8% Daily Value. take multivitamins for example with vitamin C. ive seen some that have 200% vitamin c and 10% iron. that equals 210% and nothing can be greater than itself aka 100%. therefore the percentages on food is based on daily values for humans not by percent by weight.

BTW for those that have forgotten this thread is about Botanicare Pro Bloom which I use, in organic soil and wanted to hear what others had to say about it how they use it , what are the results etc. Maybe you should try starting your own thread (Molasses Calcium Values ?) would be a good title,or maybe Dipshit Contest ! Either way show some respect for each other and the author of this thread PLEASE ! and Hyroot, it would do you some good to listen to Nullis. He happens to be correct and I trust him moore than many on RIU ...

no contest. i just want ppl to have accurate info and hyroot seemed a little confused. nullis and i were trying to explain lol. anyways yeah ill be using some amount of botanicare pro bloom. i'm using organicare and promix outdoors right now and im pleased with the results thus far. once flowering starts i'll probably be using a mix of organicare and botanicare and some blackstrap molasses thrown in for fun. i hear its good to alternate nutrients so there are different sources of nutrients to increase growth?

First off, like Botanicare (only good thing I know in AZ, plus them respecting out of state cannabis cardholders in AZ), LOVE Fulvex and some of their other omri listed funny named products. Like PBP, used it for years in ebb and flow before moving on down the path...
They know whats up with NPK, note that ALL their PBP formulas are K dominant, P is VERY overrated for indoor, container/hydro gardens.
1 thing to note. This stuff is organic and natural like the label says except 1 ingredient: Potassium Carbonate
This ingredient is created by bubbling CO2 gas through a vat containing KOH. This process is neither natural nor organic, for us picky ones.
I used it in hydro for years (with 180ppm pH 6.8 well water) then in soil (with RO and GOs organic calmag) sparingly to get rid of left overs/ free samples (they are kinda generous if you talk to the right person there/at your local shop). One thing I didn't follow directions on was the formulations:
I preferred to use the soil bloom formula (even in hydro). If you have both switch to soil formula after the bloom stretch is over. IMO 1-4-5 is a better NPK for the rest of bloom.
Once in my hydro days I ran out of veg formula, yet had a big jug left of 2-3-5 hydro bloom left (wasn't using near as much anymore b/c above point about using soil formula even in 'dro) So I just used it for all my veg and mom reservoirs and it worked nearly identical to the 3-2-4 veg stuff; same growth rates(fans bigger than hands in 3 weeks 400MH with Krystal Spike), tight nodes, perfect color of green, etc. Not saying to buy hydro bloom instead of veg PBP but it was just interesting, plants take what they need as long as its available for absorption I guess.
The rest of the story is I just stopped buying the hydro formula all together (it used to be a lot better anyways before they lowered the doses of humic and other ingredients and the color went from blacker to more amber). During the first weeks of 12/12 I recommend just phasing out your veg into bloom and ending up 100% soil bloom 1-4-5 right when they are done stretching. I used 25% increments ie; 1st res in 12/12=75%veg25%soilbloom, next change=50%veg50%soilbloom, next=75%veg25%soilbloom, stretch over=100%soilbloom hit em with KP boost (as K is more important than P indoors and in containers.) Then bell curve the dosage of your nute so it comes down towards flush.
Also the next main ingredients (guano, and kelp) may be subject to bioaccumulation of nasty stuff we don't want in our gardens. Is the seabird guano still organic if the birds eat at the dump all day, then fly back to their island and poop? Sure its organic matter but its not welcome in my medicine's feeding schedule. Remember plants are great at phytoremediation - absorbing all kinds of compounds into their cellular structures.

Don't get too cozy with the idea of your 'super pure' PBP. The main ingredient is fish meal. Due to issues of bioaccumulation, and largely depending on the trophic level of the fish used, there could still be MANY heavy metals and other compounds in the PBP. Mainly just because the industrial chemicals/wastes are being spewed into the oceans and waterways all day every day. They don't even stop for earth day

LMOA. Agreed about staying on topic, BUT sometimes these stoner tangents can produce some amazing new connections, and sometimes its like listening to kids on the playground. That is why its nice to hear things from experience, as well as back up claims with references. Dunno if taking sides at the end will help anything chill out tho. Anyways hope my input helps some people. PBP is great if you are into bottles and not real strict with your definition of organic (because its organic and natural plus Kcarbonate), it grows nice yielding very high quality nugs for sure!

Welllll, I went to a local mmj shop here in Jackson , Michigan of all places, and was talking to the awesome dudes about nutes. Further explanation led to them revealing their use of all organic compost teas, because of studies with cannabis smokers and rock phosphate , saying if there is rock phosphate left in the plants it can get in your lungs , I believe is what they said, saying the studies showed it isn't healthy , not gonna say how bad they said it is but you get the idea, so I was telling them how I used connesouir from advanced nutrients and they told me that, about the rock phosphate, which idk if AN uses but none the less... so now, as life goes on, I am going back to organics. All about the flush I guess , hmmm. I have used subcools supersoil, and the strains I am running just arnt for it ,that I know of,like the landraces I got plus the headliners like ecsd , and the ocean grown kush (gotta love the USA lol ) for e.g. So anyway I think I am gonna try iguana juice since I just read pbp uses rock phosphate as its source of P. Idk what to do really , cause I had heard th seeds uses botanicare so I thought to investigate , and with combined info , just can't use the rock phosphate, in which botanicare pbp, that I know of, from here say and reading and researching , uses. So yea , gonna go thru the new bottles, not even opened of the connesouir and then try the iguana juice, super soil just don't work on longer strains , and no one likes bananas, or random seeds. Not hermies at least . Just me, alltho good strains could be hiding . How ECSD came to be and is now world famous. Tho props to subcool none the less and people who run his soil , and all organic folks keeping the future so bright, I gotta wear shades.
