nice ive got a 17 year old elm that ill post pics of tonight when i get a hold of some batteries

yes but theres alot you have to do to keep it short like triming the roots and trimming the top.

i've just started learning and experimenting with bonsai. i've begun training a japonese loquat from a sucker of a mature tree.

the question is: can i keep it under 20" and have it fruit? ;-)

that elm looks great, btw.

thank you. i dont know about fruiting trees i dont have much expeirance there. i would think its possible to though

Ill will get pics, as for MINI fruit, no, but it is possible to grow fruit bearing trees to made into bonsai which bear normal fruit.

bonzai basically means small tree in pot. there are a shit load of books to get out on it if your interested. it can be loads of fun. you can put wire around the branches to shape them how you want (e.g wind swept, straight) and you constantly trim them to make them look nice and neat. the main aim is for the bonzai to look natural.
peace out
