haha thats a really nice deal then! I think my bulb costs like 30 bucks :)

Will be interesting to see how large your plants will become when in bloom :)

yeah there is a guy over at the hydrocanna forums doing a grow journal on blue widow also, his is just about done and his buds look super nice, just covered with white frosty trichomes and lots of colas off of one plant since he topped his.... these things supposedly like to stretch quite a bit after you switch to 12/12 so if mine end up stretching too much i'll have to supercrop during the first 2 to 3 weeks of flower just so that they don't get too tall. as of right now my sweet deep grapefruit is bigger than the blue widow so we will see how they react to 12/12 in the next 3 weeks.
i'll be posting a few updated pics here in a few hours.
laters!

so these 2 pics were taken today... they are now 37 days from seed and doing just fine.
as of today 2 springtails have been spotted on top of the coco but they are just going to be left alone.... i have had them before in soil and they didn't do any harm... actually they supposedly do some good so i'll let them be. i'm sure that i have lots of old roots that are breaking down and being replaced with newer ones since I haven't started to use canazym yet to break down old root matter.
so anyway, happy new year and enjoy the pics!

Nice, they look healthy. :) Do you think the cannazym gives anything good on my grow? Was planning to buy it but went with another nutrients kit and it didn't contain anything with all those enzymes. Atm I have Coco A+B, Roots, Mg, Pk in different bottles :)

from what hear its good, i dont have any other coco grows to compare it to though so i cant really be sure.... i dont think they would put out a product that they didnt stand behind or that didnt perform well.

That's very true. I'll see if I can get some extra cash and buy a bottle, but I'm also thinking it might not be really necessary since I do 12/12 from start. I'll think about it. :)

EDIT: updated my journal today :)

Oh wow, I haven't seen this before, but that's really smart using those foil thingies below the pots! Right now I just use the floor in my tent for run-off, wich supposedly is water tight but I can feel moisture if I remove my tent from the spot.

Girls looks better than ever before. :)

Peace

How are those ceramic watering sensors working out? I was looking at picking up some of those..pretty much the same setup, 400w coco in smart pots. In reading reviews on other gardening sites they recommend having the reservoir just below the sensor or they overwater but everyone here seems to hang them. How does the coco feel? Is it damp continuously? Is there any runoff? How do you control the rate of drip? I thought they just activated when they became dry and stopped when they got wet again. Are you using drip clean also? If you're worried about your plants getting too big when you flip them to 12/12 check out some bushmaster...I've heard good things about it but have never actually used it myself although I might call and try to get a sample.

the blumats are working perfectly, i set them to keep the medium at a certain moisture when the plants were seedlings and now when they are older and consuming 4 gallons every 6 days the medium is still holding the exact same amount of moisture as before since they are set to come on at a certain level of dryness. oh and yes i am using drip clean in my reservoir.

thanks for the heads up man. i supercropped the 2 tallest branches today so we shall see if it slows the vertical growth enough to not overcome the blue widow before the switch to 12/12 .... supposedly the BW shoots up big time also.

oh and tightpockt i forgot to answer some things you asked cause i was in a rush earlier...
i have mine set to not have any runoff but i can feel moisture through the sides of my 3 gallon smart pots from the very top to the bottom... it's not soaked or anything but just the perfect amount of moisture to keep the plant really healthy. within 4 days of transplanting the seedlings into these pots their roots had hit all sides and were pocking out through spots all around the bottom where they had been air pruned by the smart pots. by the way, i transplanted them when they were only about 1 centimeter tall each and they were in the rapid rooter plug that i had germed them in too.
the combination of these blumats and stuff like airpots or smart pots is unreal... coco also makes everything work perfectly and i don't think soil and blumats would get the same fast acting results.
I'll have to check out bushmaster for sure next time. i had my gf supercrop 2 of the highest branches to even it out more with the blue widow. pics are below...

You've got my same conclusion - blumat with coco and airpots/smartpots is win. My girls are growing really fast right now! I've only grown once before, in soil, and I can tell these will finish much faster.

oh yeah for sure zerowzz, i'm right there with ya man lol.
my soil grows were old news compared to these coco grows in pots that air prune roots. this is how i will do it from now on because of how convenient and fast it is.
soil was great for my first few times though, it taught me a lot but i still think that the whole coco growing experience is much easier and an all around better method.

Wow nice growth so far, how would you compare the growth in coco compared to soil?
much faster with no signs of slowing down.... the veg period is insanely quick and the roots only too 2 days to hit the bottom and sides of the smart pots after they were transplanted and the seedlings were only 1cm long at max... the sweet deep grapefruit (the bigger one) wasn't even fully breaking out of its seed when i transplanted and it and it still covered the pot with roots just as fast as the blue widow.
