Blue cheese week 5 help

450W LED 16/8
Humidifier set to 60%
Fan
Extractor with charcoal filter
Air intake at the bottom
Heater set to 22C

I have just repotted in miracle grow soil which has all the nutes in for 6 weeks so I water every 2 days
Can any experienced grower tell me if that sounds okay and do my plants look okay for 5 weeks old also touching 9 inch tall, is there anyway I can speed up grow so they can grow taller quicker

Hey i Don't use led but maybe you could increase you daylight hours to 18/6 or 20/4 this will give the extra hours of energy and should increase speed.
As for the plants they look good pal.
I don't use soil anymore and i'm in a RDWC system at the mo but did use soil and coco for years and its almost always the same water only when they start to dry out. top of soil will go pale and the pot will feel lighter. do let it dry out but not too much as to make the plant wilt, if you keep it wet all the time you run the risk of root rot also plants need lots of oxygen to the root zone and this cant happen if they are wet all the time.

For the brand of soil your using i dont think they look bad. Might want to veg them a few more weeks if you want good yield and make sure youre not over watering

Thanks for that I've seen these systems your using online but thought they look abit advanced and complex for me this is my first grow but I am more than likely gonna move into what your using having just read a bit of info online, will bump the daylight up to 20/4, gonna leave until around 20-24 inches until flower would that give me a half decent yield?

Can't really comment on the light distance too much but seems a good distance away from them to say its led, I run 600w hps and these are only 15 inches away from my plants. i thought led ran a lot cooler and you should be able to get it closer to your plants.

I wouldn't say dwc is too advanced really but things do happen quickly in dwc including problems, you also really need to run a chiller to cool the nutes.

If everything goes well I look for 5 oz dried a plant but when just starting out I would say a good goal would be 3oz a plant as this is what I aimed for.
Again as our lighting and grow systems are totally different I wouldn't like to say what you may get yield wise, imo I would concentrate on the basics and keep it as simple as possible until you get going.

Can I ask why you have gone down the led route? Instead of hids?
I know led are cool and the future of indoor growing but I love my hps and metal halide that much I'm finding it hard to let go. Even want to upgrade to de hps 1000w rather than led but this is mainly the cost of equivalent led to de hps.
 
Been looking into it dwc on you tube and watching videos it looks pretty simple when they walk you through everything, how long do you veg for using your method?

I went down the led route just due to running costs basically

Veg is fast in dwc from a 6 inch cutting with roots here I'll take a pic to 18 tall in prob 2 weeks then flip 12/12. If done right I can turn it round every 10 to 12 weeks. Flowering time remains the same.1502117913230698702246.jpg
 
Where in the world are you? Running costs here in the UK are high but an Oz sold here probably pays my electricity bill for the grow so worth it even if you don't sell it you'll save it not buying.

It's a small world mate I'm in Manchester too haha

Bit closer than I expected really.

The 2 week veg is only gonna happen if you get your cuttings rooted in the same size net pots that are in your system then you pull one lot out and your next lot in. 14 to 18 days veg then flip.
The pic I put up earlier in just a big plastic tub with a air injection ring and air pump. Basically a mini dwc clone. Roots in 10 days or less and only cost 25 to build.
 
So the pic you sent is just to get the cuttings rooted then you put the cuttings in the main system?? Sorry if I'm abit slow at getting this haha think I just need to watch people on YouTube

Yes I do it a little different but you have the idea. Root them put them into the system and as soon as the roots hit the water boom they grow fast.
I also put them in net pots 1 week before they go in the system so the roots get a head start if I have time before my crop is ready that is, as no separate veg room yet.

Like I said I know how to grow but moved to Hydro a year ago and my first crop was way to big. Avoid the mainly sativa type plants as they grow tall instead look for indica's as these tend to stay short
Youtube is your friend I personally got a lot of info of the Web and sites like this.
Everyone grows differently so just gotta find what suits you but in the beginning keep it simple.

It's a bit more tidy now the 2 white things on the brain bucket are wifi switches with thermometers so I can remotely monitor air temps and humidity and water temps. They are wired to each light so if thing get too hot while I'm out I can shut a light down.
 
Oh and most of the equipment is on the outside of the tent, chiller air pump and main res. Too many fucking wires to be honest.
